Brotherhood

Long before i was a member of the county department there was a conflict between the city and the county. It has been many years since this dispute I do not even know what it was about. It seems the city will not let this die, even though most of the members that were in the original dispute are no longer on the department. Administration reports the death of one of our Fire Fighters; Fire Fighter

Dustin Werner, Engine 15, was found unconscious and efforts to revive him

were unsuccessful. He was at home and went for a jog. He made it back to

The Left Side

ok guys...I am in my First Responder class and we all have a question...why are patients laid on their left side?

Seems no one has the answer. Our instructer hasn't a clue. When an EMT was asked his answer..."Because they told us to."

I have been trying to find the answer with no luck...anyone know??

NM firefighters sue over 'scene from hell'

FireRescue1 is reporting an interesting lawsuit taking place in Carlsbad.

CARLSBAD, N.M. — Firefighters and rescue workers who responded to a "scene from hell" after a gas pipeline explosion near Carlsbad in August 2000 won the right from the New Mexico Supreme Court to sue for emotional distress two years ago.

junior explorers/ junior firefighters

My department is wanting to start a formal junior firefighter or junior explorer program and I'm interested in reading about other departments programs and possibly obtaining a copy of the by-laws. If anyone could help me out on this so I can take pilot course or something of that nature back to out board and present I'd really appreciate it.

My first fire.

I arrived at the station the morning of October 13, 2009 at 7:30 A.M. It was a rainy day with no signs of slowing. Considering that this was the first big rain of the season I prepared myself for multiple vehicle accidents on Highway 49. At about 8:40 A.M, 40 minutes after crew change, the tone came out. Aware of Surroundings

How many of you emergency personal can actually say when you walk into a building and notice right off the bat where the fire exits are and if the building is sprinkled or even as much as if they have fire extinguishers and if there up to code?
