Hmmm....
I've never done this before. But what the heck- I'll start now. So I've been pretty excited starting with Flight for Life Colorado. This past week I've spent Mon/Tues at Littleton's Hospital on the OB floor watching deliveries. I'll sum it up with placentas are gross. But one mom delivered twins and that was pretty cool. Then one of my coworkers who's 34wks pregnant came in and that was different. I stayed away, kept some distance but said my hello and chatted for a bit. No…

Hey everybody!!! Hope everyone is well. Okay I need some; okay if anyone has read my blogs you know all of this is new to me and I have no clue half the time what my instructor is talking about, so the questions this week he gave us is to ask our local firefighters what is the point of no return? and he says five of them would not be able to tell you. And we need to find out the five top reasons, from FEMA, that firefighters lose their lives and what can we do to decrease. So if anyone has any…

What happens when you are at the top of your game, everyone is singing your praises, and you are reveling in the glory? Usually you wake up, but if you are living it, the feeling is sweet. But what’s next? Sure you invented a tool, a machine, asked the right question, or espoused some other new and improved way of doing something. Who the hell cares?
Do you think for a second that even Mick Mayers is going to change the way we read, write,…

In a short while I will be leaving the house to participate in an assessment center for District/Battalion Chief for my department. To say I'm excited would be an understatement. I've been working for this for such a long time and today I get to show them I've got what it takes to cut the mustard.
I can't help but think of all the people that have helped me prepare for this test, those that have helped shape my career and the support I've recieved from the guys at the station. It's a…

“Firefighters just like to hang-around the fire station and drink beer until there’s a fire.”
How many times have you heard someone express an opinion like this of Firefighters? Probably too many times. It’s a hard opinion to change when people read about Fire and EMS workers getting into trouble with the law for alcohol-related issues. It’s an opinion which is re-enforced by some fire stations in some parts of the country having bars on their premises.
Many departments,…

I wanna be like Daddy when I’m grown up.
My momma say’s I can.
But first I’ll have to grow up brave and strong
Cause he’s a Fireman!
His coat and helmet don’t fit me yet.
But I’m growin every day.
Daddy say’s I’ll “Get R Done”
It’s the firefighter’s way.
I know I’ll make a good one.
I’ve got fire fightin roots.
But It’s gonna take more than growin
to fill my…

Okay, I know it's not their fault. When folks have a knee or hip replacement and need help getting up off the toilet or vagal down and "Fallout" while using the toilet and someone has to call 911. I really don't have a problem just helping them up or even cleaning them up and transporting them to the ER. Because hey it could happen to anyone. But, As God is my witness. If I ever find myself fading out while doing my business on the pot. With my last breath
I will reach up and flush that damn… Continue

OK here in the greater Pittsburgh area we got approx 3-4 inches of snow maybe more in some areas. My gripe is this. Why does such a small amount of snow shut down the schools, court houses, govt offices, large corp, and just about everything that is not related to selling things to the direct consumer. I woke my butt up at 0345 for a smoking wire call in a residence this morning and guess what there were already 3 inches of snow on the ground. What did i do? I cleaned my car off and went to the…
