My father was a fireman, he drove a big red truck,
And when he'd go to work each night, he'd say, "Mother wish me luck".
Then Dad would not come home again, 'til sometime the next day,
But the thing that bothered me most, was the things some folks would say. A fireman's life is easy, he eats and sleeps and plays,
And sometimes he don't fight a fire for days and days and days.
When I first heard these comments, I was too young to understand
Cause I knew, when people…

Medical and Fire Personnel
It has come to our attention from several emergency
rooms and from the state fire reporting system that
many EMS narratives and Fire Reports have taken a
decidedly creative direction lately.
Effective immediately, all members are to refrain
from using slang and abbreviations to describe
patients and/or situations, such as the following:
Cardiac… Continue

They call me "Clubber". No I'm not a UFC fighter. I simply spiked a ball while playing Volleyball and broke a guy's finger. Some nicknames are funnier than others. "Lt Poop" happened to shart in his pants while running in fire school. He will forever be called" poop or poopie" ( I think his kids call him that). Some nicknames are obvious William Williamson is "Bill Bill", Richard Richardson is "Dick Dick". Others are not so obvious. "Hau's is not a big burly guy at all. He drives like shit.…

I am from a small town and we dont do alot of calls a year. We dont run rescue, technical rescue, or hazmat. But does this mean that we dont need the training? I just got my hazmat tech certificate, and hope i never need to use the training in my community. I have been asked why i wanted to have that if we don't do that kind of work. My reply is if I need it i have it. As my instructors always tell us it another tool in our tool box. With each and every class I take I find that this is more…

There was a fire in 2007 on a European fire-ground that represented a typical ‘routine’ approach faced by firefighters all over the world. The fire involved a small single-story abandoned warehouse but there were surrounding buildings that posed some moderate exposure risks from a developing fire. The initial response consisted of just five firefighters on a single engine, with limited backup for the next twelve minutes on-scene.
As this book will show, a lot can happen in twelve…

When my fait has risin, and my soul has past, these are the things that I must ask. When the time has come, and sorrow is here, in good times, and in bad, I'll always be near. I ask for laughter, and joyous hearts, when celebrating the beginning of my new start. What a privalidge for my watchfull eye, to watch over you till the day you die. But, when you shower, know I'll be there, so wash that ass, and shave that hair. And when you smell the delicat scent of my mane, don't be alarmed, your not…

If people really knew me deep down inside, would they see what I have locked in my deep brown eyes? If my eyes are the mirror into me soul, what are the truths that would unfold? Would people see the real me or something of their own reality? When I look into the mirror of my reflection , I only except judgment at my own discretion.. In my eyes I see a loyal soldier, always there, to lend a shoulder. Be there when times get rough, help you out when you had just enough. In my eyes both a soft…

They say your children will be worse then you times three. But, I'll tell you I was honorably blessed the day I lost my virginity. I must admitt at first I was deffinatly affright. The thought at sixteen bringing to the world a new life. How was I to raise her and what was I to do. Thankfull for the help I got from few. Remembering back on the day of your birth. One look in your eyes and I knew you were meant here on earth. Why you were meant to be I do not know. But, I sure am eager and avid…

Impatient I am,
so much a sin,
To complete these goals,
I possess within.
Nothing seems to be going right,
I'm falling behind,
Lost in a failing translation,
Loosing my mind.
Into the abyss,
Of dispositions missplaced,
Walking with disappointment,
And a look of discrace.
Seems I'm bounded from life,
Not allowed to have,
It strangling me…

On February 23rd, 2008 The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held the 27th annual fundraising event
The climb for the cure.
Firefighters from central Ohio came to downtown Columbus Ohio where they donned their full turnout gear including their S.C.B.A.’s (and on air) walked the stairs of the 40 stories in the Rhoades State Office Tower to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis.
Here’s something interesting. Since the event was held in our first in district we (Engine co #9) stopped by to…

These are all taken from the secret list from the end of December - the middle of February. A very short time, for this number of incidents. Almost all could have been avoided by more prudent driving, or at least more attention to road conditions, and at the very least by wearing seatbelts.
Becoming part of the emergency helps no one and puts more individuals in danger, civilians and firefighters. Longer response time while more firefighters are dispatched, civilians injured and mostly…

My soldier, oh what can I say. I finally get to see him and it’s the most wonderful thing ever, words can’t even begin to describe how I feel. On the other hand, he is beyond ecstatic; he is in more of a blissful stage right now. Ask any soldier how they feel when they finally see their love after being apart for so long, nothing can describe it.
I love cooking him meals (anything’s better than MRE’s right guys?), cleaning his barracks room and yes, even his ever piling laundry because the…
