Pranks Should Not Compromise SAFETY!

Posted on August 21, 2008 at 11:00am 5 Comments

I don't have a lot to say on this matter, except "Use your heads" when pulling pranks. There are many more imaginative ways to prank someone then to screw with their gear. As far as I'm concerned, screwing with gear not only lacks imagination, but also smarts. Gear is only manufacturer guaranteed if it is not tampered with and is in it's proper working condition, not full of cream, or oils or sand or bottles or whatever else someone feels fit to put in gear. Insurance companies are pretty picky… Continue

Please Buckle up

Another sad day and a grieving family due to lack of seatbelts. This is not the only one since my other blog post regarding seatbelts, but it struck me when reading it... responding to a vehicle fire and leaving behind a young family. Our job is tough, our job is dangerous, our job can be incredibly rewarding. One thing our job should not be is deadly. There are ways to prevent a high percentage of LODD's. Be the solution, buckle up!

Do You think others don't see you page??!!

Posted on March 11, 2008 at 5:50pm 5 Comments

I was just thinking, do people actually think that others on here are not going to see their page? You know, commenting on the forums on someone's open page isn't always smart, especially if it's not something you wanted to post in the forum (the "Safety Nazis" quote is still my favourite).

I had just innocently enough wandered to someone's page to say something like, "Even though we have disagreed on a subject or two, I respect your views on safety and your convictin in your words."… Continue

Training leads to "Don't think react!!"

I came across this article today from almost a year ago and loved the photos that accompanied. It clearly showed the firefighters in control of this situation and then in a single ACTION, saved the life of a clearly distraught man. The photos tell the whole story... imagine being a part of a department that doesn't have the time, money or desire to train? The outcome of this could have been very, very different. I'm not sure anything else needs to be said, the article and especially pictures… Continue

Speaking of Seatbelts (and vehicle related LODD's)

Posted on February 24, 2008 at 8:22am 5 Comments

These are all taken from the secret list from the end of December - the middle of February. A very short time, for this number of incidents. Almost all could have been avoided by more prudent driving, or at least more attention to road conditions, and at the very least by wearing seatbelts.

Becoming part of the emergency helps no one and puts more individuals in danger, civilians and firefighters. Longer response time while more firefighters are dispatched, civilians injured and mostly… Continue

Hello Spanner 122- I am a local artist based out of Phoenix, AZ and have been hired to do a drawing of a firefighter killed at the WTC. I saw the photograph you use for your avatar and was wondering if I can obtain permission to use it in my draw...
