LODD...is it really?

Line of Duty Death is something none of us wants to put our families, friends, or community thru...thats you folks.

Our job is to fix the problem, not compound it. When are we as a group going to figure that out? Really...how many "LODD's" is it going to take before someone says, "Hey maybe we should not call unsafe responses anything other then what they are...a hazard to our communities".

10 mph over is the law...seat belts are the law...when conditions allow…

You stay up for 16 hours He's been up for 48 straight You take a warm shower to help you wake up. The rain in the middle of the interstate keeps him awake. You complain of a "headache", and call in sick. He's chilled to the bone, hasn't eaten all day, has the flu, and then runs into a burning building You drink your coffee on your way to the mall. We are a young couple and hope to have plenty of friends to share stories and to party with for the weekend. Bring your camper or tent and be ready to party. Howdy

Well it's great to be here. I've been with my current department now for 2 1/2 years. Came to it with ZERO experience and within 8 months, made LT and was elected as Captain 38 in the June 07 elections. It's been a great run here in Lexington Park. We have 6 E450 boxes, 2 rapid response cars and one F150 Utility/Command truck (U39). We've got about 120 members strong from all walks of life and we're still growing. It's going to be hard leaving here and starting over again but I plan on… Continue

After 9/11 My respect for them has grown tremendously. I have now started my own business of creating Firehouse Signs for the local firehouses or for there home showing how much they love being a firefighter and there company. I make wood firehouse signs which are done very tasteful. They can be of any any… Continue

The Continuing Chronicles of the FNG(irl): Unofficially Official

Well, props to my chief, he didn't want me to have to wait another week or so to get the arson check back and then have to wait for the letter from the department, so.....drumroll.........

I'm unofficially officially IN !!!

I'll be getting sworn in at the next department business meeting (first Tuesday in February), that is, of course, as long as my arson background check comes back clean.

They can't count that time my sisters and I set the garage on fire when I…

Well looking at some of the forums and post I have a good idea of what personal equipment I want to carry...

I was considering several items and just wonder what everyone thinks...

I am carrying the following:

I have door stops (wooden), a needle nose pliers, standard slip jaw pliers, and channel locks for hand tools, EMS shears and a automatic center punch.... granted I have the nomax hood and fre gloves... I am looking for a cheaper pair of MVA / Extraction gloves to…

How I feel

People aren't training enough, and with that they become more complacent which could get them killed. Old habits die hard, old firefighters need to learn to stop there old habits and traditions, and start teaching new probies safer and smarter techniques. Back to the basics is how i train, not matter what a firefighter is never to experienced to get back to the basics.
