Does anyone have a copy of the rules. Found them on here serveral months ago. Lost the link and my copy. If anyone knows where to find them it would greatly annoy my 16 year old daughter to no end as well as a couple of her friends.

Firefighter's Prayer
This is page is dedicated to all the fallen firefighters who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and to those who put themselves out there everyday. Thank you.
There was a huge fire at a big city soda factory. The city company was losing ground and the owner was frantic. He told the fire department that he needed a secret formula in the safe that was in the center of the blaze, and he would give 10,000 dollars to the department that got the formula. An hour later no ground was gained and a mutual aid call was put out. When 12 departments couldn't subdue the blaze the owner saw this he raised the reward to 100,000 dollars. Suddenly a small town… Continue
A 66-year-old Florida woman named Maryanne decided to go to jail rather than pay her bill at Waffle House. How much was the tab? Seven dollars and 45 cents. According to police, Maryanne ordered a sandwich and coffee, ate and drank it, but then refused to pay the bill. The restaurant called the cops, they got there and told Maryanne to pay up. She still refused, so she was arrested. If convicted of… Continue
I saw this article posted in SafetyxChange.com. It lists the top 10 business blunders of 2008. I found several of them very interesting. Especially ones about CEOs bailing after their companies begin to fail and earning millions. We wonder why Barak Obama is receiving so much support. I know that if I did such blunders I would no longer have a job. There would not be a huge severance package waiting.
Yesterday was such an exhausting day I couldn't even type this post!
We had an SCBA drill yesterday. I was so glad the Academy got us ready by doing the search and rescue with the packs on. I didn't get to go through the maze but was able to do the rescue. All the practice makes you feel more comfortable with the equipment.
Last night we climbed the 24 foot ladder into the window then advancing dry hose lines. What I didn't know and to those of you veteran firefighters… Continue
10 days ago 2 St Louis Fire Dept pumpers crashed into each other in North St Louis. 8 firefighters were hurt in the crash the cause of the crash is unknown.
Got back from the lab test over Pharacology, starting IVs and medication injections. I am happy to say with one minor hiccup that I passed, no 100% on this one though. I missed on the sq injection of checking to make sure I wasn't in a vein, no big deal I passed on the 2nd attempt Thank God.

It is nice to set a record. I just would not want it to be for highest blood alcohol level. Taken from KCMQ.com.
Just when you think you’ve heard about the drunkest driver EVER, well, then someone new comes along and shatters the previous record. Rhode Island police arrested a man who’s blood alcohol level was more than SIX times the legal limit. 34-year-old Stanley Kobierowski was arrested after he drove into a highway message board on Interstate… Continue

This video is about 5yrs old but def brings up a good converstation piece. What would you do if a cop tried to arrest you for doing your job? In this video (some of you have prob seen before) a cop arrests a Captain for not moving his wagon from blocking the scene of a MVA on a highway. Upon arrival the Captain goes right to the vehicle to assist with patient care. The cop is seen immediately going to the officer's side window and ordering the chauffer to move the… Continue
Here is today's daily dumbass from KCMQ.com. This is taking the political battle a little far. But, it is kind of funny.
I know political tensions are runnning high these days, but try to not act like a dumbass if someone doesn’t support your candidate of choice. A 45-year-old man in St. Cloud, Minnesota hates John McCain, so when his neighbor put a McCain sign in his yard, the man started putting his dog’s crap in his neighbors truck bed every… Continue

As I have been going through the class, I realize one thing. I have been in this business for 18 years and I feel I taken the firefighter for granted. I am embarassed to say that but feel I have. The SCBA aspect of the job was very difficult for me. I did not realize I have a mild form of clostrophobia. I will admit it was very scary at first but did manage to make it through the practice practicals.
The thing I need to say about the firefighter itself. It takes a very special person… Continue
Yes, it's been a while since I last blogged. Just as well, you say!
It's now mid-spring, and it's warming up. What we're not getting, but should be, is our spring rains. So this is making it year twelve of sub-normal rain. Yes, drought is well and truly established.
I've just been reading a pre-fire season release from our forests people. Not good reading really, but we'll see. The not good reading? Just that once again it looks like we're heading into the fire season with… Continue

I would like to tell you a story about achieving something you're very scared to do.
Last night I had to climb the 35 foot ladder at the Morris County Training Academy. I had a rough day and looked at the ladder and said I just can't do it. But the instructor, CB, he was so kind. Came down and backed me up when I got to the point when I couldn't go any further. Followed me all the way to the top. I'm not afraid of heights, I wasn't afraid of falling, I was just… Continue

Okay, those of you who know me know that for the last 6+ years I've been trying to become a career firefighter. I've been to Indy, Evansville, Bloomington, and Columbus. Even threatened to go to Boston and New York a time or two. So far, I've experienced nothing but heartbreak and disappointment. Flunking interviews and bombing tests. It's been a long hard road and I won't lie when I say that there were a few times when I wanted to give up.
