Well I'm Canadian and up here that would be considered discrimination( I would hope). But I can see your point if someone had one on there face or neck. Really just looking for an upper arm or on the back and it would be fire related. Thanks for the heads up tho
If you are not a full time firefighter and are seeking a career as a professional firefighter, then DON'T get any tatoos... LA City FD for example has the recruits perform a swim test. Not to see if they can swim, but to reveal if they have any tatoos. If you do then kiss off getting hired. I have recently heard that for folks who are already hired and working will have to wear "socks" over their arms and legs should the tatoos be visible with the exception of when they are "working out". Still want a tatoo brother? Think twice unless you are satisfied working as a volunteer firefighter. To work full time requires conforming with these new "no tattoo's" standards. Good luck with your decision.
Look up the Member Shadon Brady on here...he owns and Tattoo's out of his shop Station One Tattoo here in NY. He has a ton of fire fighter/EMS tattoos have has done and designed flash for. He also happens to be my tattoo artist and a dear friend and brother in my FD.
Check out www.strikethebox.com. This is a site dedicated to fire service tattoos and has hundreds of tattoos separated into various categories. That is where I came up with the basic idea for my tat and where I have a photo of it posted.
