First, before anyone says anything, I am very grateful for soooooooooo many things in my life. I know the only reason my husband is even alive (much less functioning as well as he is)is because God has blessed him and my family. T says that just before everything went "boom" he saw a white light flash in the corner of his eye which is what made him turn and most likely saved his life. I firmly believe that white light was God’s hand reaching down to protect him from the blast. I always… Continue

This month I will become 46 years old. I'm not really sure how I got here so fast. Here being my involvment in the fire service. But, I certainly remember how it started over 30 years ago almost by accident.
I always wondered why from the time I was ten years old people would always ask, what do you want to be when you grow up? Hell, I’m forty six as I begin to write this blog and I’m still not sure what I want to be when I grow up.
During the late 1960s and early 1970s a…

I live in Alabama of course but I do believe there are "whistle blower" laws which protect me. I work for a private service and they are wanting us to do our billing tickets so as even if a person walks to our stretcher they are bedbound for medicare and medicaid purposes.I was forced by our office manager as she grabbed my arm and made me change a billing ticket on a patient who walked to our stretcher but is blind to bedbound on a billing ticket. They also want us to follow pre-written…

PREFACE
JULY 3, 1863
Many men are dead; the mighty Virginians have been pushed back across the blood strewn field, back into the trees on the far side of that field. How far across the Emmitsburg road did they get? One Hundred yards? Two hundred yards? Certainly no farther than that. In the three years that Will Grey had been with the army, rarely had he ever seen the General make a mistake like this. Throwing almost all the Virginians into a head on charge through an open…

Okay, First I want to say I like cops. I need them at every Haz Mat I go on! (LOL) Anyway, my town has decided to go from a Fire/Rescue Department to a "Public Safety" department. This means the small town cops will be trained as firefighters and respond to firecalls when they are on shift. We will also have the Police Cheif over the Fire side of things. I have worked with some of the cops that are/were firefighters in the past, they are okay. BUT!!!! What if he forgets to put his gun away…

I believe if Vision 20/20 becomes reality, this is only part of what we can start seeing here in the states, and becoming a part of. Just think, nation wide Public Service Announcements such as this could really get the message across! Another topic, all though off base of Vision 20/20, could be how to properly let an emergency vehicle pass.

At three in the morning, There is quiet and peace
All of my family's softly dreaming their dreams
I work all day from dawn until dusk
But when that siren sounds, its hustle I must
No matter the time, No matter the place
Someone's life could be in danger,
And I must make haste.
I am a fireman, I volunteer to save lives
I do this without thought of the fear that's inside
I will do what it takes to make sure they're all right
I will help put out…

There is no excuse for hearing about so many wrecks involving emergency apparatus. We are supposed to be more alert and cautious of the other motorist on the road. Our departments spend thousands of $$$ for better equipment for our safety so why are we crahing them up so much? This is written in response to the latest from firefighter closecalls.com N.C. crash,Ga. crash.

The post that prompted me to write this has been deleted....wonder why? I belong to several sites and the post that got me fired up was on CafeMom. Just a quick overview of it......this woman claims to have had a friend in a bad wreck and claimed the firefighters took $400 out of the ladies purse because a day later, at the hospital, the money wasn't in the purse. She said the hospital wouldn't lie to her, yeah....right! It was a heated post to say the least! She had an excuse for… Continue
