The post that prompted me to write this has been deleted....wonder why? I belong to several sites and the post that got me fired up was on CafeMom. Just a quick overview of it......this woman claims to have had a friend in a bad wreck and claimed the firefighters took $400 out of the ladies purse because a day later, at the hospital, the money wasn't in the purse. She said the hospital wouldn't lie to her, yeah....right! It was a heated post to say the least! She had an excuse for everything, as someone confronted her, she added more and more to it. No one ever saw the money or anyone take it, she just started in bashing quote "the so-called heroes" as she put it. She was repeatedly called on her ever changing story as well as her disrespect for those who serve...

Anyway, I just felt that I needed to stand up for all the men and women like my husband who risk their lives everyday for people just like her!

First off I have to say that as a PROUD wife of a Firefighter, I take GREAT offense to the post regarding proof-less allegations of thievery by other firemen!
Lets get a few things straight here................

Firefighters are on the whole are brave, trustworthy, and honest men and women who have worked extremely hard to get to a position where they can do what they feel they have been called to do.

Firefighters are worthy of the utmost honor and respect but seldom get it. Does the lack of respect cause them to shrug away from their duties?? No it just makes them that much more determined to prove nasayers wrong!

Firefighters have the same dreams and goals as everyone else. They want to see their children grow and they wait patiently for the opportunity to retire, in the hopes that somehow all the lost time with their spouses can be made up. All the missed birthdays, holidays, anniversary dinners for two that were missed because someones baby stopped breathing or people were trapped in a burning house and needed them.

Firefighters know that these things may never happen. They know their babies may not have them around for weddings and grandchildren. They know that their wife or husband may have to somehow go on with life without them.

But they go anyway. Every time a 911 call comes in and a siren or pager sounds the all too familiar tones, they roll. They roll for the person in need at that moment. They roll for each other. They roll for their families and loved ones.

They roll for the ungrateful and undeserving and they will continue to roll those trucks when duty calls and I for one am eternally grateful to each and everyone that responds.

God bless all my husband's fellow brothers and sisters! I AM A PROUD FIREFIGHTER'S WIFE!!!!!!!

haha that was the point of the training.... no twelve yr old has an oyster pearl rolex watch... so obviously they were lying and wanted money so we had to say what the dept would do with the situation properly

WTF is a 12 year old doing with an Oyster Pearl Rolex watch??? That's like when there's a bus accident and there were 12 people on the bus but by the time it's over you've got 67 "victims". (more than the bus can hold!!!!) Stay safe!

you know the funny thing is this is almost exactly the scenario we had to work through in our EMS professional development class for medic school (light bulb goes off as to why my instructor had us do this)

believe it or not this type of thing happens a LOT............... many times its people that just want to get money out of the fire dept..... in our case it was a 12yo boy who broke his arm and had his "oystr perl rollecks watch stold by the firemens and his mama want it bak now!"... the price of going through the civil suit is so high that the county often settles out of court.

sometimes it truly does get lost somewhere along the way (neighbor, family member, hospital worker, and even someone that works EMS sometimes)

The main thing I have seen however is that when someone is acting on the offensive from the get-go and is throwing heated accusations around... theres usually more to the story than meets the eye!

glad you feel its wrong for someone to go off like that unjustifiably :)
