The post that prompted me to write this has been deleted....wonder why? I belong to several sites and the post that got me fired up was on CafeMom. Just a quick overview of it......this woman claims to have had a friend in a bad wreck and claimed the firefighters took $400 out of the ladies purse because a day later, at the hospital, the money wasn't in the purse. She said the hospital wouldn't lie to her, yeah....right! It was a heated post to say the least! She had an excuse for everything, as someone confronted her, she added more and more to it. No one ever saw the money or anyone take it, she just started in bashing quote "the so-called heroes" as she put it. She was repeatedly called on her ever changing story as well as her disrespect for those who serve...
Anyway, I just felt that I needed to stand up for all the men and women like my husband who risk their lives everyday for people just like her!
First off I have to say that as a PROUD wife of a Firefighter, I take GREAT offense to the post regarding proof-less allegations of thievery by other firemen!
Lets get a few things straight here................
Firefighters are on the whole are brave, trustworthy, and honest men and women who have worked extremely hard to get to a position where they can do what they feel they have been called to do.
Firefighters are worthy of the utmost honor and respect but seldom get it. Does the lack of respect cause them to shrug away from their duties?? No it just makes them that much more determined to prove nasayers wrong!
Firefighters have the same dreams and goals as everyone else. They want to see their children grow and they wait patiently for the opportunity to retire, in the hopes that somehow all the lost time with their spouses can be made up. All the missed birthdays, holidays, anniversary dinners for two that were missed because someones baby stopped breathing or people were trapped in a burning house and needed them.
Firefighters know that these things may never happen. They know their babies may not have them around for weddings and grandchildren. They know that their wife or husband may have to somehow go on with life without them.
But they go anyway. Every time a 911 call comes in and a siren or pager sounds the all too familiar tones, they roll. They roll for the person in need at that moment. They roll for each other. They roll for their families and loved ones.
They roll for the ungrateful and undeserving and they will continue to roll those trucks when duty calls and I for one am eternally grateful to each and everyone that responds.
God bless all my husband's fellow brothers and sisters! I AM A PROUD FIREFIGHTER'S WIFE!!!!!!!
