In late 1977 into early 1978 the local ambulance service sponsored an American Red Cross, Advanced First Aid course. Many of the junior and younger firefighters attended this training that was held at the fire hall several nights a week and on a few Saturdays as well. In fact, Smedley and I were only 15 when the class started and were not officially junior firefighters yet. We were learning how to do some good, how to help someone out in their time of need. Of course there was a bit of goofing… Continue

Phil, thanks for reading my blog, and the nice comment. I'm really OK with the way the run went down. Actually, I am glad I was there to give some kindness to the man that caused the death. I think maybe if I had gotten into this job when I was younger, I may not have been able to handle it so well...but everything happens at the right time, doesn't it?

Thanks for responding to the NFF Memorial Post. The Saturday and Sunday events are Department Dress Attire or "Dressy" clothes. I will post more as the time draws near. I am looking at lodging in the Gettysburg area for all of us that wish to attend. Also, That Friday night we will have an informal "meet and greet" session for the FFN members attending with a FFN party on Saturday.
