News from across the pond in the U.K. - firefighters had to cut a man from a titanium chastity belt used for sex games. This was after the man spent ALL DAY trying to free himself before calling for assistance. Personally, I would have worked at least 48 hours before letting firefighters come rescue me! Apparently, it took about 45 minutes to free the man. During this period, he reportedly slippped in and out of consciousness due to…

Okay, last nite at 2045hrs my engine was heading to the local highschool to do a fire watch for the fireworks... We had a full engine of members and our girlfriends/wives/kids. We also had sevral personal cars just incase we had a call. Well, just before the school we get a medical call for a young girl who fell from 12 feet in the air. We just run our own cars as first responders. So we pull the engine over and myself and my capt jump out and swap from the engine to his truck (driven by his…

Down in Clearwater Florida, we are getting reports that a Pinellas County paramedic molested a patient in the back of the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The patient, a female, reported to police that she had been touched inappropriately. This all happened back on June 26. The paramedic, 38 year old Patrick Livingston was arrested yesterday (July 4) and subsequently charged with sexual battery. Livingston is being held on a…

Timothy came off the Ventilator on wednesday, he is doing better but we still have a long way to go. His friend is still fighting for his life. The man who hit them got out of the hospital on Monday and was arrested for drunk driving, it was said that his blood alcohol level at the time he was braught to the hospital was at .11 holy shit. That is crazy.
I am sure that when he goes to court for this that he will certainly do some time as it is said that this is his 3rd DUI.. and…

I wish you could know how it feels dispatching officers, firefighters
and EMT's out to calls. The feeling of having someone cry and scream
into the phone asking for immediate help. Then when our law officer or
firefighter or medical unit we send out does not respond to us on the
radio when we ask for their status or check to see how safe the scene
is. We call for them and our heart drops because no one answers back to
let us know they are safe or that the scene is…

Here's to all the heroes out there that no one thinks about on this day.
I come from a desert. I don't live in one now - Louisiana is beautiful and lush, blessed with a great deal of rain - frequently too much, such as during Katrina. But for much of my youth I lived in a desert in California. The Fourth of July meant fire. Not just fireworks, but fire - often uncontrolled. As kids we couldn't understand why the laws were so strict. We couldn't buy fireworks until one week before the…

As usual the plane got delayed. So I am sitting in Norfolk Va waiting. I hate waiting. You would think after 19 -1/2 years in the military I would be used to it. NO!
Soooo.... what will I be doing over in Iraq? Fleet repair and management. Much of the reason I am a fire fighter is because of my vehicle back ground. I started out as a fire truck mechanic. More like a big kid with big toys. I LOVE fire trucks. When I promoted myself out of playing with fire trucks all day (thank you…

Love for me
It was just another day at the station but something made Steve feel a little different. He just had a strange and uneasy feeling deep down inside. Just then the alarm sounded, Code 90 house and fire is visible from the road. The trucks roll out in a flash with the lights and sirens blaring. Steve put on his turnout gear as they headed to the scene. Upon arrival, people were gathered outside and begin to yell she is still inside. Steve and his crew went straight in looking for…

This is the time of year when we remember the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Whether these people include: Soldiers, Police Officers, EMS personnel or Firefighters or any other type of Military personnel. So, as we go to parades, picnics or whatever we do as part of our fourth of July celebrations, always remember why we do have Fourth of July and the freedoms that we have as a nation.
Have a safe and happy Fourth of July holiday!
