Paramedic Charged With Sexual Battery In Back Of Ambulance

Down in Clearwater Florida, we are getting reports that a Pinellas County paramedic molested a patient in the back of the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The patient, a female, reported to police that she had been touched inappropriately. This all happened back on June 26. The paramedic, 38 year old Patrick Livingston was arrested yesterday (July 4) and subsequently charged with sexual battery. Livingston is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Now to be fair to Pinellas County, Livingston actually worked for Sunstar which is a company that contracts with the county to provide its ambulance service. Counties that obtain their services through private industry such as Sunstar will still receive the blemish as if it was their own employees. Governments constantly put themselves in these situations as a way to save money over providing their own quality services which they can directly supervise with the standards that their citizens deserve.

I'm sure most workers for private ambulance are dedicated individuals. My issue involves local governments giving up control of services provided to their citizens, but still take the public responsibility for their actions.

Granted Mr. Livingston is still accused of these actions and nothing has been proven. It's her word against his. Still, if Livingston did cross the line within our line of work, I hope he get's what he deserves for blemishing both Pinellas County and our profession.

Shame on you Patrick. Hope it was worth it.

One things that needs to be made clear here is that regardless of where this individual worked, these things happen at City levels, County levels, and higher. This has nothing to do with where he worked. He made a very terrible decision to cause harm to a patient, and this he should pay for if he is convicted. Those others working within the same system he is from, I wish my very best. Keep your heads up and keep saving lives. The management needs to address why this did happen.

Mr. Waller,

Every person has her/his own opinions to whatever is happening around her/him. Merely my opinion was that of the "flames of hell". After reading Rescuefrog's comment...it is clear that my opinion is made crystal clear.

I looked at several articles regarding this medic. According to the articles Livingston has admitted to touching this gal and that it was not medically necessary to do so. I didn't find any info that said how and why he decided to touch her (he put his hand down her pants). Livingston is still in jail and according to the articles lowering if his bail was denied. With all this, they must have something on him. It will come out soon enough. If in fact it is all true- this is the sort of stuff that's makes us all look bad.

How about we let the legal system try Mr. Livingston prior to us trying him here? Our opinions are pretty meaningless until Mr. Livingston goes to court...if he ever does.

It is pretty easy for a "he said-she said" situation to come up when you have one EMT in the patient compartment with one patient. There are other situations that can explain complaints of this nature - a patient that is mentally ill or that is confused from a medical condition or head trauma, for example. A "frequent flyer" with a pre-existing grudge is another possibility in this type of situation.

I'm perfectly happy to avoid a rush to judgement and to let the legal system do its job. If Mr. Livingston did cross the line, he'll probably pay the criminal, professional, and social price.

I'm perfectly happy to let someone with more power and insight than I consign evildoers to the flames of hell...that decision will be made far above my pay grade as well.

From The Goddess:

If Mr. Livingston did do this to this patient then not only should he be fired and be locked up...but he should burn in the flames of hell. If the patient lied to seek attention then I hope and back Mr. Livingston to file perjury charges against this patient also seek damages and have her locked up and burn in the flames of hell herself!!!
