This is a sad Day I may have to change my title from Fire Cheif to Regular firefighter but it will not change how I feel about the fire department in my heart. They have said that I as a cheif haven't put on my SCBA and that I am showing favoratism and a whole lot of stupid accusations but I know with the lords help and my Brother firefighters things will be decided in my favor. I would like for all the members of Firefighter nation to pray for me.

So as you look at the firefighter with his rake, hose or axe,
His beet red face or ice covered mustache,
You should know why he goes through that smokey front door,
And is forced to crawl like a baby down on the floor.
He does it to save both lives and property,
All that is precious to you and to me.
So take a good look at this modern warrior who serves his call proud and true,
And know that he would die just to save me and you.

Why do we?
Its a job that we do, to some its not clear, why do we do it, 24/7 365 days a year? We do it for people that we just don't know, In rain, hail, sleet or snow. Its a job that requires the best of the best, Not something that you can expect from the rest. We do it in the darkness of night, The persons life lies in the fate of our fight. We do it for free, and expect no reward, We never step back, only we push forward. We are called heroes, some may tell, Of our adventures…

How sad I was when I heard of the events that happened in LA today. Let us all say a prayer for our brothers and sister in the LAFD. Hug your kids and wife, think before you say an unkind word about those we serve with.

Has your state or organization adopted NFPA 1402 &1403 as the standard on live fire training? If so, how has your department been affected and what has it done to improve safety during live fire training?

We had an ambulance call this afternoon for a person with chest pain. When I arrived on scene, I could tell from a glance it didn't look good at all. I guess that after enough years I have developed a sixth sense about these things. Once we had the patient loaded into the ambulance I cautioned my partner, a new EMT, to have the bag-valve-mask ready at the patient's head "just in case". The ALS tech dispatched with us climbed on board and began his workup.
About halfway to the…

Today started out as yet another me-day tuesday, something thats become part of the weekly schedule since my injury. I picked up my venti-iced-whole milk-half caf-peppermint-white mocha, went to the ATM to get some dollars since the clifton general store doesn’t allow plastic for minimal purchases and all I wanted was a BLT, drove through the back roads to clifton and parked. As I started walking I heard someone yelling for help. It was an elderly lady who was helplessly lost after attempting…

Hi I'm Jim; I just have a short but to the point of doing the job you love to do. To me it wasn't just a job it was something I always dreamed as any other kid and did. I was a Firefighter, EMS Provider; Also a First -Aid CPR Instructor for the Red Cross and The American Heart Ass. I had done this for seventeen out of twenty one years. Started out as just a firefighter and worked my way from there. The thing is from there I didn't care for myself as I should have and just made twenty six hours…
