In a recent discussion in the Rope Rescue Group on FFN, I referred to many departments as "plate spinners". You can read the full discussion at:
http://www.firefighternation.com/group/roperescue/forum/topic/show?id=889755%3ATopic%3A882697
I'd like to say that this term used to describe many departments is mine, as I feel that it sums up many the world over, however it's not- it was suggested to me by someone who heard it from…

I have read all about ghosts and orbs , private groups and the playing of games is going to ruin FFN . BUL...IT ! Everyone can put down what they want , We can read what we want . If you don't like it don't read it . I don't need anyone messaging me telling me how disappointed they are in me for my opinion or that my questions are asinine. I have two new firefighters because of this site , they read the stories, the blogs , seen the videos and looked at our groups so they decided to give it a…

When I went to look at my blogs and realized it has been nearly a month since I posted something, I was a little shocked. The last few weeks since I returned from the NFA have been a blur; trying to get caught back up at home and at work evolved into a lot of planning and gathering information and talking with other US&R professionals around the nation as we had to deal first with Gustav and then with Hanna. And it's not over yet with Ike and Tina- no, sorry, Josephine - on…

I was at both of these fires..
SARANAC - A fire destroyed a Saranac home owned by Greg and Becky Griffin at 5328 Bennett Road around 4 p.m. Monday, leaving Saranac fire chief Jim Darby to declare the house a “complete loss.”
It was the second time the home at that address has been demolished by a fire, after a blaze destroyed the home last October.
The family was not home when that fire occurred, either.
Darby said neither fire appeared…

Well first I want to thank you all for your warm words of encouragement-I do appreciate them, I just hope that I as get closer to my dad's age, that I will turn into a a jaded individual and loose my love for Free Speech which includes sharing your faith-whatever that maybe.
Dad, there is no one more for Freedom of Religion in this country then me. But with this freedom comes the ability to voice, share, and speak about what it is you believe in. I have had to fight this very same issue…

Hastings officials sorry about overlooked remains
HASTINGS - The mayor, the fire chief and other public officials in Hastings have sent a letter of apology to a family after firefighters overlooked their relative's remains in a car that burned in a driveway.
The daughter of 62-year-old Paul Bailey Sr. of Barry County's Rutland Township found his remains more than two hours after firefighters extinguished the Aug. 29 blaze and cleared the scene.
Fire…

Hi Brothers and Sisters, Just wanted to let everyone know that I recieved my Paramedic books today and from the orientation 2 weeks ago or so we have already been assigned reading homework. So as of now my time on FFN will be limited more than I would like but, in the long run will be worth it. I will be checking in from time to time and posting updates, stay tuned for those, and a Pre- Thank You for the support for this class in advance. Take care and Be Safe.

HASTINGS -- The sight was terrifying, Johnny Montes said of seeing his father-in-law's scorched remains in the shell of a burned car.
He cannot fathom how Hastings firefighters missed making the grim discovery when they extinguished the driveway car fire Friday morning, then cleared the scene after leaving a note on the door advising about insurance notifications.
"You couldn't miss it," an incredulous Montes said Tuesday.…

Hello fellow firefighters,
I am a first responder from San Francisco, my sons father abandoned him at birth. I ask the community of brotherhood to rally around him.
I have a story of bravery and courage..
I think we have a little firefighter building in my son, he is 11yo.

I consider myself somewhat a loyal Republican, so I must admit when I first read about Obama's choice of VP nominee as Joe Biden-I started to wonder if the Republicans could make a just as strong and bold move with McCain's nominee who, this time last week, was still up in the air, with a few front-runners.
I must confess, that even though he is a Dem, Joe Biden is one hell of a choice for the DNP (Democratic National Party). I am quite young so I wasn't around when Joe Biden…

So I'm sitting hear watching the Red Sox playing the Orioles, trying to catch up (2-4 in the 8th). Have you ever had one of those days where you got absolutely nothing done? (BTW, the Sox just tied the score, triple, outfielder SLAMMED into the green Monster, laid him out). Anyway, I'm wondering what TS
Hannah is going to do this weekend, as we are planning to go to Ellington's parade. It's probably the best one in the area, but not if its pouring Saturday. I cleaned the bathrooms a bit,…

Went on my first rig fire today! It was way cool. I'm so glad I became a firefighter. The workover rig was a comlpete loss but we did get the gas well out. Was a brand new rig worth $1.5 million now its just a pile of scrap metal. Good training material for NOT WELDING AROUND OPEN GAS WELLS.
Catch ya all later
