Help !! Lost

Have you seen this snorkel lately? If your company owns it or someone knows where it is now PLEASE contact me. In 2001 the Friendship Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Pennville, Hanover, PA. sold their 1989 Pierce Arrow 85 ft. snorkel. It had a 1250 GPM pump and no water tank. We sold it to Jon's Mid America Fire Apparatus of Rogersville, MO. I posted this on other websites and have not received any response…

9/19

Another relatively slow day comes to an end. Thought we were going to have "the big one" when tones went down for smoke coming from the roof of the local hardware supply store. Kind of a downscale lowes or home depot. On the way to the station i'm thinking "oh crap all lumber, paint, solvents, propane cylinders, etc etc. While enroute found out it was a "smokey" fork lift they were using. Got two medical calls for heat exhaustion before making it back to the station (sigh) Stay Safe…

Welcome to DaKine!

Aloha Kakou!

E komo mai, welcome, to the blogspot for a lowly, but experienced rookie on the Big Island of Hawaii! This is my return to the fire service after a multiple year hiatus. After losing the love of the job in Colorado, I have come here to Hawaii and joined a volunteer department. Let's just say that the issue was the drive to go career forcing out those of us that just want to run free. I volunteer, and I didn't have any real desire to go pro. I had a good job, a good family…

Standardization... You've got to be kidding me!!!!!!!!

Ok, I guess I'm about to get on a soap box here. Why not start off a new profile the right way and get fired up. I guess I'll start at the beginning. My wife pasted away last year and I decided now was a good time to move and start over in a new place. Great idea right? NOT if your a Fire Fighter. I have never in my life seen so many goof-ball requirements to be a Fire Fighter as I have seen in the past 4 weeks. Keep in mind, I have been a FF for over 20 years, I do have a "few" IFSAC/NFPA… Continue

Charleston 9

This was on a site for the Charleston 9. Thought I would share it!
What do I do when I can't find the word I need to say

Somehow my thoughts get in the way

The right words so perfect so true

I wish I could just say them to you

I could say thank you but that isn't enough

I could say I feel your pain and I know its tough

We lost a friend We lost a brother

Now We have to just hold eachother…

I Wish You Could See

I came across this on the internet:

I wish you could see the sadness of a business man as his livelihood goes up in flames, or that family returning home, only to find their house and belongings damaged or lost for good. I wish you could know what it is like too search a burning bedroom for…

The Greatest Irony of Love

The Greatest Irony of Love

Loving the right person at the wrong time,

having the wrong person when the time is right

and finding out you love someone right after

that person walks out of your life...

And sometimes, you think you're already over a person,

but when you see them smile at you,

you'll suddenly realize that you're just pretending

to be over them just to ease the pain of knowing that

they will never be yours again...

Workin a fire with the new guys

SO this past Saturday we did a mutual aid training fire and we had 3 new guys there.... WOW how have I forgotten the look of fear yet excitement that occurs on all of our faces the first time we enter a structure for the first time!!!! I got to POP thier fire cherry and we all came home ALIVE and uninjured!!!! The reactions were that they thought it was better than they expected but yet the unknown kept them on their toes also!!!! I am glad we had this oppurtunity to do this as a team brothers… Continue
