Windy day here today. Started off with a broken power pole that landed on top of commercial building. Luckily no fire resulted from it. Got calls to two small grass fires that were close to buildings. Again got lucky as they were very small. Knock on wood...nothing since then..

Another relatively slow day comes to an end. Thought we were going to have "the big one" when tones went down for smoke coming from the roof of the local hardware supply store. Kind of a downscale lowes or home depot. On the way to the station i'm thinking "oh crap all lumber, paint, solvents, propane cylinders, etc etc. While enroute found out it was a "smokey" fork lift they were using. Got two medical calls for heat exhaustion before making it back to the station (sigh) Stay Safe…

I am new at this so it will probably look pretty foolish till i figure out what the heck i am doing. We are located in northeast Texas and it has been a very wet summer for us. Lots of rain. This afternoon we had our first "real" toneout for a grass fire with structures pending. After the initial "did I really hear that" shock, I headed to the station and was told to get the engine ready and stand by. Turned out to be a small grass fire that was handled by a brush truck. Never got to roll on…

What a week... 4 fires this week ! Wow... Last night it was a shed fire (small cannabis lab!), so the fire quickly propagated to the roof house. I was in the ventilation team on the roof... It was my first time 4x4 ventilation... I've taken a lot of smoke and flammes ! It was so cool ! It was a great training for me... cause i have my final test for FFI tomorrow... Cool !

Take care !
