To all of "My Firefighters" and their families:
Although each of you is in my thoughts and prayers every single day of the year, September 11th is especially difficult for us all, I think. So many lost in the blink of an eye... in front of the world.
Tomorrow morning, I will be at work at the bookstore and I know that the same thing will happen at the same time as it did six years ago. It will hit me that there was a tragedy of unfathomable proportions on American soil. I will…

So
I was on my way to work the other morning around 06:30 when I crested a
low hill on Woodhaven Road. To my surprise & instant aggravation
there was a police car diverting all traffic off the highway onto a
side road. Now Woodhaven road connects me to I-95. Any diversion here
can spell disaster for my commute. So as I get to the top… Continue

Well, for all of you who want to know, I still don't have a job to speak of. However, most of that is my fault, because I haven't exactly been pounding pavement. Between work and family, it's been nearly impossible to get to departments during normal business hours when the folks I need to talk to are there. BUT, that's all about to change, because Thursdays the wee man will be in preschool for three hours and I don't work on Thursdays....so that will be the day devoted to showing my face at…

Today one of our local churches treated us to a worship service in which they prayed a blessing upon us and all the other firefighters, families, and those who have had someone give their sacrifice so others may live. They called it Heroes Day. They gave us a cookout afterwards. It was a time to reflect and just hand out with our feloow brothers from one of the neighboring departments. It was done in Remembrance of 9-11. May we NEVER FORGET!

I volunteered for my fire department (all volunteer) because there was a need, there is always a need for trained firefighters, when I joined I had no firefighting background. But I was willing to train on my time and my families time. Our training officer took his personal time to train 5 new volunteers for several months to challenge the firefighter exam. After the exam the proctor stated that he had never seen a better trained group of challengers.
I believe, that it does not…

In Honor
Brother when you weep for me
Remember that it was meant to be
Lay me down and when you leave
Remember I'll be at your sleeve
In every dark and choking hall
I'll be there as you slowly crawl
On every roof in driving snow
I'll hold your coat and you will know
In cellars hot with searing heat
At windows where a gate you…

THE VALUE OF OUR CHILDREN - THE DECEPTION OF LIARS - OR IS IT THAT STRANGER DANGER DOESN'T REALLY EXIST?
I believe that the majority of parents today place a very high value on their childrens lives and want them to grow up to do more then they did as children and have more then they had and attend better institutions of higher learning, and not go through the trials and tribulations that they did growing up because after all, doesn't our heritage transfer to our children and their…

Who am I?
by Tracy Cameron
I am the voice that calms the mother into breathing life back intoher apneic infant son.
I am the invisible hand that holds and comforts the elderly man who woke up this morning to find his wife of 50 years has passed away during the night.
I am the friend who talks the disgruntled teenager out of ending her own life.
I sent help when you had your first automobile accident.
I am the one who tries to obtain the…

Hey, my name is Zack. I'm new on this site and need some friends...i guess i'm supposed to talk about myself. I'm 15. (I know...I'm "young") but i know a good bit for my age. I want to be a big city firefighter...ladder company. I've been w/ Duncan Chapel for the past 2 years as a cadet, learning the trade. I enjoy it so much. Most kids my age are out getting in trouble, while i'm at the fire department hoping for a call. I want to make this my life. I'm very passionate about it. I study as…
