Why I Joined Fire/EMS

LIVE LIFE STRONGER THAN DEATH.... a wise person once told me this
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Running in when everyone else is running out thinking were crazy.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
I believe that tight budgets are one of the issues facing firefighters. The inability to correctly equip a department has led to firefighters being hurt and killed. I also believe that we are our own issues. Firefighters who do not wear their proper PPE during situations that require it.

Hazardous Materials Technician

Posted on March 4, 2009 at 6:56pm 3 Comments

Wow, for the past 2 weeks I attended an 80 hour Texas State Certification course for Hazardous Materials Technician, and then took the state exam. It is known to be the 2nd hardest and most technical of all of the state tests. Good news, the entire class passed the state exam, so I am not only a HazMat Tech out of California through CSTI, I just landed my state of Texas Hazardous Materials Technician certification. Sweeeeet. Now I am able to get the IFSAC seal for HMT since Cali doesn't have… Continue

What a RUSH! high angle rescue

Posted on August 25, 2008 at 8:30pm 2 Comments

I was on shift last night while we were watching the "Lord of the Rings Trilogy" when all of the sudden we got toned out to a rescue situation at our new amusement park.

I was like doh... partial bunkered out and jumped into the engine to start rolling to the scene.

We arrived on the scene to find a set of coaster cars between 70 and 80 feet up on the tracks that had frozen in place. We called for mutual aid getting the ladder rolling and my Lt. tasked me with getting to the top of… Continue

Pictures Being Uploaded causing Negative Public Perception

Posted on August 8, 2008 at 7:30pm 20 Comments

I don't want to sound like I am preaching here, but what is with all of the pics being uploaded that show alcohol being consumed. I think that we need to set a higher standard as Firefighters than just partying. What kind of example do you think this is setting for anyone that views the public page. I am sorry but too much is just that.... too much. I don't see what it does besides makes you look like you drink alcohol a whole lot. I believe that we should think about what we are going to put… Continue

Remembering 9-11.... Never Forgetting

Posted on September 9, 2007 at 10:42pm 0 Comments

Today one of our local churches treated us to a worship service in which they prayed a blessing upon us and all the other firefighters, families, and those who have had someone give their sacrifice so others may live. They called it Heroes Day. They gave us a cookout afterwards. It was a time to reflect and just hand out with our feloow brothers from one of the neighboring departments. It was done in Remembrance of 9-11. May we NEVER FORGET!
