A call rings out through the rain and cold,
There's a rollover on the interstate you have been told,
The sirens and lights break through the blinding rain,
Your moving fast because you know someone is in great pain,
Your ready to act as you arrive on scene,
As you leave the truck you hear a baby…

I have alot of demons that chase me around..Now these begin outside the fire service..but because I refuse to face them they affect in all aspects in my life. A wise friend once told me that I had to face these...deal with them...learn from them..and then simply MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE! That is what I am going to attempt to do here. I am not one for talking about myfeelings because I am much better at building walls around them and…

In the 2005 season finale of FX's "Rescue Me," Firefighter Tommy Gavin is pictured driving along in his pick up with Jesus Christ as a passenger. For Gavin, played by actor/writer Denis Leary, JC is just one of many visions that come to him from episode to episode. Certainly not a scene from the venerable series "Emergency," but an audience pleaser nonetheless. So much so,…

Alright everyone, it's time for the power of prayer and positive thinking, I have 2 job opportunities that are looking really good. One will require a move and that's OK because it's the one I really want. Everyone put out all the good stuff for me. Over a year without a job will send one into bizarre space and sometimes my best conversations are on the 2 year old level now. (too much grandson time)
Thanks all - Stay safe!

Afternoon all,
Yesterday was eye opening class., it was discussion and training on vehicle operations aka driving and how to handle your vehicle during a call. Most of the class seemed to be common sense but I did learn a lot from it. See the act here (click here) It was very informative to say the least.
But we also have had a discussion going on locally about a conversion from 400 MHZ to 800 MHZ. As a licensed ham…

On Friday we buried a brother and friend. Driver Jarrett A. Dixon died on Saturday Jan. 12th after sufffering chest pains will working out at Station 5. I continue to realize we can go at any time, so I try hard not to dwell on petty crap. For those of us that have lost a brother or sister firefighter we truley recieve a sobering reminder that life is too short. I love this job, and I am fortunante to be doing it with a great group at Station 13. Jarrett left behind an example of the kind of…

We put ourselves in danger,
day after day,
but you'll never hear us complain,
about the lack of pay,
firefighters and medics know the same,
it's what we do to stay ahead of the game,
we don't do it for money, but the love of the job,
No one would do our…

Just when I think that I put a call in the past behind me...it creeps up and attacks out of nowhere! I had been at the department almost all day today doing paperwork. A group of members were there cleaning the ceilings in the truck bay. Someone asked me if I had any hand lotion since their hands were dried out from the cleaning chemicals and the gloves. I didn't have any but I knew that I had put some Hand Lotion on the…
