Burying a Friend and a Brother

Posted on January 20, 2008 at 10:33am 0 Comments

On Friday we buried a brother and friend. Driver Jarrett A. Dixon died on Saturday Jan. 12th after sufffering chest pains will working out at Station 5. I continue to realize we can go at any time, so I try hard not to dwell on petty crap. For those of us that have lost a brother or sister firefighter we truley recieve a sobering reminder that life is too short. I love this job, and I am fortunante to be doing it with a great group at Station 13. Jarrett left behind an example of the kind of…

Have pretty much spent my month long vaction so far trying to get Zeus up and running on Search. This little guy is so smart, he self rewards after the find and thinks he doesn't need me. I'm just the chauffer to and from, hopefully I can get squared away before Boomer retires in January. Any constructive imput is welcome.

I honestly thought that by this point in my Emergency Service career we would have made a difference in reducing the loss of life and critical injuries we suffer. I am continiually amazed that parts of our American Fire Service still don't have 2 in 2 out, RIT, or even wear seatbelts. I truely wish that we could…

Hey Mike, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Yes I got all my questions answered. I have had to put on hold doing anything search and rescue wise until I pass my registry.... I won't to be able to devote the proper time it will take.... I will keep in touch and thanks so much.

I would like to personally thank you for the work that you do. My Grandfather passed away fighting a forest fire in 1989, and the search and rescue dogs were a great help in locating his body (it was a tornado blow down, and very thick).
