Transfer

I just found out last night at the start of my medic shift that they are transfering a bunch of us around to diffrent medics, I am going to our M43 starting Nov 10th. The reason is to try and get 2 paramedics on each medic, which makes alot of sense when it comes to patient care. If we were to get alot of als calls with only 1 medic he gets slammed with them all, now with 2 they can switch, or rotate calls. Makes alot of sense.

In Memory of the Air Angels crew...

Just wanted to take a moment and remember the Air Angels crew and the one-year old patient that died yesterday in a helicopter crash in Aurora. The nurse on that flight, Bill Mann, was part of the crew that attended my department's open house two weeks ago and was very nice and gracious person, as were all the members that we met that day. Our condolences and hearts go out to the family, friends and co-workers that are dealing with this horrible tragedy. Rest in Peace.

Female Shark reproduces without a Male

I found this article and thought it very interesting. Wonder if humans isolated on an island could do this? Man, now that would be messed up. Original article can be viewed here.

A hammerhead shark that gave birth in a Nebraska aquarium reproduced without mating, a genetic analysis shows.

Man Sells Boat "Accidentally" for $30

Taken from KCMQ.com.

If you don’t know how to sell something online, it’s probably not a good idea to learn by selling your boat. A German man accidentally sold his small yacht for $30 in an online auction because he didn’t know to set a minimum bid. He hoped to sell the boat for at least $16,000, but the thirty dollar bid was the only offer. Then the seller tried to cite “technical problems” and tried to take the boat off sale and not honor the buyer’s bid. It went to court and the… Continue

Men Steal From Spy Store

I found this on stupid criminal files.

Men Steal From Spy Store

DALLAS - Police said two burglars struck a Texas store that sells high-end security equipment, and the whole thing was caught on tape by 17 cameras rolling in the store.

"The point is, nobody is safe; there is always a stupid criminal out there," said Kris Webb, owner of Spy Supply.

The thieves broke into Webb's… Continue

Is it the full moon?

I don't understand people sometimes. For some reason it seems that several of the discussions I have been following have gotten a bit personal & testy. I don't know why we feel in necessary to call each other names.

We've fussed about grammar & spelling. Although there have been studies that prove that a person can read words that are misspelled & we are used to using the spelling & grammer check on our computers so we don't paty attention to type Os becaue it fixes… Continue

1 Vehicle, 1 Traffic Stop, 2 DWIs

Here is today's Daily Dumbass from KCMQ.com.

Police in Fargo say two men were arrested for drunk driving in the same vehicle during the same traffic stop. A cop pulled over a 23-year-old man early in the morning. While that man was taking a sobriety test, his 24-year-old passenger got behind the wheel and tried to drive off. The passenger was stopped, and he also failed his sobriety test. Both men were taken to jail.

Good thing there… Continue

Critical Incident Stress Management

Today I read two posts on FFN that made me think about CISM - Critical Incident Stress MANAGEMENT.

One was the death of a Chief which is often devestating for the members. My 1st Chief was my uncle when he passed in 1988 it killed me in more ways than one. After that MY CHIEF was a man I had known since I was a child playing @ the fire station with his kids. He taught me a lot about being a PERSON as well as an abundance of things they don't teach you in class about fire fighting. He… Continue

Looking for my friends from 9/11 between Sep - Oct 01

Hello my Brothers and Sisters in Service,

I do not want to be disrespectful in any way. I was part of the rescue operation at the WTC during Sep - Oct 01 and I have lots of photos of FDNY, NYPD, Military, EPA, USCG, Ground Zero, the Landfill and some of the people who were there.

If any of you would like, please help me by letting me know some identifying information L48, E94; I saw you guys every day and prayed for you and signed your book; I have a large group photo of 10 of you;… Continue

Hello Friends

Hello to all my wonderful friends, and a great, big, Texas "HOWDY!!!" to all my new friends.

I was going to send this out as a regular message through mail, but apparently the rules have been changed and I have to do it this way now. I guess I'll have to send out individual notes from now on or just keep blogging.

I have been off for a few shifts due to a foot injury. I finally went to the doctor and had it xrayed. According to the doc, the best he can come up with is tarsal tunnel… Continue

Daily Dumbass October 15, 2008

Yet, another idiot from KCMQ.com. To think, they say that weed does not hurt you at all. Look like it makes you dumber.

If you’re a stoner and you have the munchies, but don’t have money, you’d better come up with a better plan than today’s dumbass. 27-year-old Shawn Pannullo of Vero Beach went through the drive thru at McDonald’s, ordered food, got to the window and tried to pay for his burgers with pot. The cashier declined and instead called… Continue

The small gifts

It has been brought to my attention by our lord that I havent been thankful enough for the small pleasures and gifts in my life. I lost virtually everything for him to remind me that nothing is for certain and to take nothing in life for granted. I have redeveloped my appreciation for the smallest gifts in life such as a gesture of kindness from a giving and loving soul, to transportation, to a roof over your head and food in your stomach, not having to wonder from one night to the next where… Continue

OMG Exam 2 Results

OMG is all I can say and Thanks to all who encouraged me to look positive. I got an 76% on the exam a whole lot better than I thought I had done. Although my average went done it is still at an 84% for the class so I am very ecstatic about my grade, if there are any corrections I will post a blog updating them. Thanks to all who responded earlier.
