... I used to have an account on here awhile back, but I deleted it because I didn't really have a use for it. I didn't make any friends (ha ha I'm a loser I know!), and I got too busy doing other things. But I am back, and trying to make a fresh start with the site. Who knows, maybe this time I will be more social on here, and actually find people to talk to.

. . . and everything to do with local political power
A guaranteed groaner when teaching a fire officer course is to talk about “
Mrs. Smith” or
The Phoenix Way. Firefighters are quick to point out that they are not in a retail trade. Users of 9-1-1 are called victims or patients,…

Who are Volunteer Firefighters? They are your neighbor, the " guy/girl next door " They are husband, father or son, wife, mother or daughter They are the laborer, the store owner, the corporate executive, They are the jogger, sportsfan, hobbyist or handyman.... They are just like everyone else, save for one quality... They are one in one thousand who will risk their life to save yours; You'll see them waiting for the train and at the little league game, You'll see them in every house of…

So I've finally scheduled my exam. I have been fine when I think about taking it until this last weekend. I'm really nervous now! I usually test really well but I am having a hard time studying for this exam! I am just going to take the chapter pretests from my EMT book and hope that can help refresh my memory. I've been out of class since June and done with clinicals since September 30th. I think that more time spent in clinical enviroments would help refresh my memory and skills but I don't…

Just a quick note that this being a new year and since I had started in class in the fall I had fallen off of my exercising, and as it would be I gained weight that I didn't want to. that being said my new attitude is that I will start up again with working out and losing weight, not only so I can do my job better, but so I don't have any health problems at a fire scene, I wanna be able to do all the work I am assigned without having to catch my breath. All in all its for the better to get into…

"Trial by error." What do these words mean to you? In the fire service is there room for error? What is gained by making mistakes and what is lost?
Trial by error is something that we all experience. We all learn from our own mistakes and through the mistakes of people throughout history. The fire service is marked by a large quantity of mistakes and the corrective measures are what helps us create a standard to learn and train from.
Lets look at 9-11. Without getting into…

not knowing if he can save them

hes not responding
they go into the toom

Greensboro, N.C. — A 16-year-old driver plowed through the scene of an earlier traffic accident, injuring two Greensboro firefighters early Sunday.
The teen driver did not stop for emergency lights and road flares surrounding a wreck scene at Creekridge and Randleman roads, according to the Greensboro Fire Department.
Firefighters J.N. Harvey and L.D. Boone tried to get out of the way, but the girl's vehicle struck them. The vehicle hit another vehicle, but the driver…

Fallen
Rest now my fallen brother
Lay soft your suffering back
Rest well and forever
Your memory shall not lack
Rest your tired hands
Wipe clean your weary brow
Rest with St. Florian
Your spirit now endowed
Rest here your breaking heart
We know you gave your all
Rest easy, you’ve done your part
You’ve answered your last call
Rest knowing that in god we sought
Oh lord, watch over another who just fell
Rest assured your…

This new year is going to be the BEST ever!!! I can feel it! It started out with a party (non-drinking) at my Chief's house, then saying good bye to my daughter :-( who was going back to Bend for college, then, today, we had a fire call and a medical call...usually they come in threes so I'm waiting patiently to see what other call we get today before midnight...

I consider myself a student of effective public and media relations. One of the most difficult messages a fire chief or public information officer must convey is that of a tragedy where, despite our best efforts, the results are fatal.
I often coach fire officers and public officials at incident scenes as how to best deliver difficult news. While I encourage them to focus on the role of the…
