Not much happened today
The Engine ran a few, then they went a body short so we got to take 1 medical response for them.
Did get a chance to work out, so thats a plus.
Stay safe,
Lt Dan

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEBER IS THAT EVERYONE GOES HOME EVERY TIME. NO MATTER THE CALL NO MATTER HOW SMALL WATCH YOUR BROTHERS' BACKS AND BE THERE FOR THEM ALL. WHEN ONE GOES DOWN WE ALL GO TOO AND WHEN YOU FALL I FALL WITH YOU. IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AND YOU ASK WHY, ON MY SHOULDER YOU CAN CRY. JUST REMEMBER THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ONE HERO WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER ALL OVER THE WORLD. WITH THIS JOB COMES HONOR AND PRIDE AND THROUGH IT ALL I WILL BE BY YOUR…

Greetings to all, from the Henry County Fire Dept. GA
We curently have a young firefighter that has been diagnosed with cancer.
His name is Britton Cauthan
Britt has been out of work for some time now and continues to battle this disease daily. Enough annual time has been donated to him from his co workers to keep his check coming in for awhile. We have also conducted several fund…

Yesterday we put a brother firefighter to rest. Ernie was a friend to all and would do anything for anyone. We all loved him down the station. We will miss him down there. I must say that the guys down the station worked there butts off to make Ernie’s final farewell a great one. It will never cease to amaze me that with what we pulled of the last week with what we had. Everyone at the Mitchell pulled together to make…

As if the public's perception of volunteer firefighters as rabble-rousing, beer-swilling Howdy-Doody's fascinated by lights and sirens wasn't bad enough, I received this today in my in-box from "The Secret List"....
Hey....
In today's "ain't we proud" segment, a New York Firefighter was shot and wounded by another Firefighter who was drunk, in their upstate New York firehouse. FF Tyler Drake, 21, of Alexandria Bay, was accidentally shot in the right arm around…

The statistics are grim. The number of men and women signing up to volunteer for Emergency Services is declining at an alarming rate. Not only are the new recruit numbers dwindling, those that already belong are not staying.
Is it a social issue? Are the younger members of society simply not stimulated to respond to civic responsibility? Is today's fire service not exciting enough or is there too much competition for their time....
Remember when you were a kid, and one of the…

I've been too silent for too long about an important subject in the fire service. I finally broke my silence in response to a discussion on drinking in the firehouse and a recent e-mail from Billy Goldfeder's not-so-secret "The Secret List" at www.firefighterclosecalls.com.
Here's what Billy wrote:…

I passed! I took the physical exam yesterday afternoon. I was freaking out about it all week because last weekend I took the practice exam and it didnt go so well. I had alot of trouble with the ladder extension(35 ft). So the day after the practice exam I went to home depot, bought myself a rope, a pulley, and some hooks, and I set up my own way to practice. I did that all week and when I went home early on friday, I went up to the fire house and tried the ladder extension again. I busted…
