One of the funniest ones I have found yet. Taken from

"Here’s a nutbucket for your daily dumbass. Six officers were needed to restrain a drunk man who damaged a police car because he was growling and biting like a dog. The Florida man also told the arresting officer, “I’m wrecked, dude. I got a suspended license.” Once he was put in the cop car, he kicked the officer in the crotch, spit on him, and tried to bite him while barking and…

Fire ground conflict in the Philippines was a all time issue plague the career vs. volunteer units for a long time. Volunteer units which is approximately 70 % more than the gov't counterpart - majority of which in the national capital region which is Metro Manila. Although, we get the job done most of the time. Fighting fire side by side with our career counterparts has the cold and uneasy feelings is still there. But the question of efficiency, liability, dormant resources, injuries, and…

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...February 3, 2009
Today I was called in on short notice to take my Firefighter 1 exam again. I was monitored by a great instructor, Tom G., who told me since I am such a faithful person I needed to have faith in myself. I have been so lucky to have the teachers at the Academy helping me along the way, pushing me despite all my insecurities.
I used a pencil I've owned for 17 years. I found it by chance in a drawer today. It had Resolve of…

Think that you've heard about every kind of dumb criminal? Here is a new low. Taken from
KCMQ.com.
"A 24-year-old man in Everett, Washington, picked the wrong place to do a drug deal - in a stall of the police station bathroom. A plainclothes officer was in the bathroom and overheard the man on his cell phone trying to sell Oxycodone and other drugs. After being confronted by the officer, he confessed to trying to deal drugs and turned over his…

A hostile feature article in
Forbes magazine about public safety retirement and the DROP program:
Don’t let anyone tell you the American dream has faded. the truth is the U.S. is still minting lots of millionaires. Glenn Goss is one of them.
Goss retired four years ago, at 42, from a $90,000 job as a police commander in Delray Beach, Fla. He immediately began drawing a $65,000 annual pension that is guaranteed for life, is indexed to keep up with inflation… Continue

My post today will probably piss some people off whom I consider friends, but so be that. I will not use any names or name any departments involved, but those involved in the incident I am going to discuss will know who it is I am talking about it.
Back in a cold 2003 night, I was sound asleep at my volunteer firehouse trying to get a good night's sleep, but that was not in the cards. I was riding OIC (Officer-in-Charge) of our Engine that evening and I knew we had enough staffing…

Last night while on Medic shift it was our Dept. bi-weekly fire training night and it was on Ice Rescue. The training was excellent, with some of the techniques for donning the "gumby suit" and attempting a rescue as well as a self rescue if we were to get trapped while saving someone. An excellent night indeed, althoough very cold. As for medic calls it was a pretty slow night, thank God, counting yesterday and last night I am up to 6 Hrs for the 2 day period for sleep, maybe I will get more…

During the Super Bowl, I saw a commercial for hulu.com and decided to check it out. Right away, I saw video clips from Saturday Night Live. There was a clip about chewable Pampers.
This clip is hilarious. Hopefully you enjoy it.

A Japanese fire station burned to the ground after a firefigher forgot to turn off the stove before responding to an emergency call. Ten trucks from other stations were called to put out the fire. A fire department official said “since we should be in a position to educate people about fire, we are are extremely sorry that such an incident happened.”

Our Father,
Who Art in Pittsburgh,
Football Be Thy Game.
The Kingdom Come,
5 Super Bowls Won,
On Earth as it is in Heinz Field.
Give us this Day a playoff Victory,
And forgive us our penalties,
As we defeat those who play against us.
But lead us into a victory,
And deliver us to Tampa!
A-Ben
Go STEELERS

PITTSBURGH GIRLS
A Pittsburgh girl knows just as much
about football as her guy friend
in some cases, even more.
She drinks beer because it tastes good
but knows when to be classy and drink
something more sophisticated.
She owns a Steeler jersey not just
because it's cute but because she
supports her team and understands the game.
She loves Kennywood and isn't afraid to
order cheese fries from the Potato…

If you know of Myron Cope, you get this. Myron Cope was a colorful, radio analyst for our Steelers and a long time sports radio talk show host. He was the voice of the Steelers.

‘Twas the night before the Super Bowl, when along the gulf shore,
Steelers fans were praying for “just one more;”
The players were nestled all snug in the sack,
With visions of the first NFL…

On this Superbowl Sunday, I’m reminded of
an article I read recently on an NFL production crew directed by Bob Fishman. The article paints an amazing picture of the action that occurs in the production trailer, and how the decisions and actions of one or two people determine what millions are watching on their screens—indeed, their actions determine how those viewers experience the event.
But the article hit home…

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...February 1, 2009
Usually when my blog is silent for awhile it means I have a lot of things happening with my daughter, and for those of you keeping up with what's happening, I want to tell you how successfully the planets lined up yesterday.
It started with Friday not being a good day, and the end of a very long week. I so feel like I am in this all alone, and still have not taken that step to join a support group or other group to try to…
