Needham Fire Fighters open up around the electric meter at 66 pond View Ave this afternoon. Apparently a cable installer struck a live wire inside the wall sparking a fire which was quickly contained.

We just got back from another activated alarm. My tillerman tells me it is too hot back in the box, but I would have no idea as the rest of us are sitting in the relative comfort of our poooorly air conditioned cab (like all those o's?). Of course, I have my turnouts on, but at least I had the foresight to leave my gear under the HVAC vent in the station, so it stays cool for about 20 minutes, which is what it should take to go out, get staged, and get turned around (AGAIN).…

August 4th, 18:25 hours...
Right after shift change I was in my office reading email when the tones went off reporting a house fire at 31 Vine Street, dispatching Engines 1 and 3, Ladder 2, Rescue 1 and Car 2.
As I turend onto Vine Street, I spotted the hydrant for the first due engine company and pulled up just beyond the home. There was smoke puffing from around the dormer.
