House Fire in Needham, Massachusetts

Needham Fire Fighters open up around the electric meter at 66 pond View Ave this afternoon. Apparently a cable installer struck a live wire inside the wall sparking a fire which was quickly contained.

Seat Belts

It takes less time to buckle up than it does to explain why you didn't - can't - won't.

Collyers Mansion Conditions

Collyer's Mansion conditions are a common but rarely publicized situation that confronts Public Safety personnel. Persons living in these conditions often present as clean, well spoken and "normal" in public but suffer from a mental condition that prevents them from distinguishing between trash and valuable items. This is called Obsessive Compulsive Hoarding Disorder.

The following is a brief…

Too Hot To Run Calls

We just got back from another activated alarm. My tillerman tells me it is too hot back in the box, but I would have no idea as the rest of us are sitting in the relative comfort of our poooorly air conditioned cab (like all those o's?). Of course, I have my turnouts on, but at least I had the foresight to leave my gear under the HVAC vent in the station, so it stays cool for about 20 minutes, which is what it should take to go out, get staged, and get turned around (AGAIN).…

Still Waiting...

Well, I've been out of fire school for 2 months now. I've applied for volunteer positions at a few departments with no luck yet....who knew it would be so hard to get someone to let me work for them for free? Thought I had it in the bag, but I guess not. So, I've got a stack of app's that I'm going to fill out and deliver, then...fingers crossed!!

Still, I hang on to the thrill of fire school....the emotions, the pain, the sweat, the bruises, the frustration, the joy, the pride, the… Continue

Prayers Needed

As some of you know, I have been preparing to expand my ministry. I am
asking for prayer for wisdom in knowing just which path to take. I have
been pursuing the option of starting a church and also looking into
taking a pastoral job in an established church. Please pray for myself
and my family as we face these choices.

2 alarm fire

August 4th, 18:25 hours...

Right after shift change I was in my office reading email when the tones went off reporting a house fire at 31 Vine Street, dispatching Engines 1 and 3, Ladder 2, Rescue 1 and Car 2.

As I turend onto Vine Street, I spotted the hydrant for the first due engine company and pulled up just beyond the home. There was smoke puffing from around the dormer.

I struck the the first alarm on arrival, and radioed orders to the first due…

August 5, 2007

At approx. 1810hrs I left my job at the prison. Upon entering I-85 I noticed traffic was backed up. Being the person that I am, I turned on my flashers and drove up to the front of the line on the grass. I arrived to find a Ford Expedition upside down with 2 ambulances about 6 police cars a fire truck and 5 people on the ground. 1 older lady was a DOA. We had 2 other females approx. late teens to mid 20s, and 2 infants/toddlers. (1 4month old and the other less than 3yrs old. I stepped up my… Continue

Joing Firefighter Nation

I am joining Firefighternation although I am currently not a firefighter. I am in the hiring process with a few departments in my area. I am REALLY hoping I get hired here soon, because I'm tired of testing.
