At approx. 1810hrs I left my job at the prison. Upon entering I-85 I noticed traffic was backed up. Being the person that I am, I turned on my flashers and drove up to the front of the line on the grass. I arrived to find a Ford Expedition upside down with 2 ambulances about 6 police cars a fire truck and 5 people on the ground. 1 older lady was a DOA. We had 2 other females approx. late teens to mid 20s, and 2 infants/toddlers. (1 4month old and the other less than 3yrs old. I stepped up my game and started helping with neck braces and placing them on backboards and loading the older females onto ambulances with the older infant. The 4month old infant I stabilized the neck while 3 flight nurses and a doctor who was riding by performed first aid and and rescue breathing. The infant started crying and breathing but had to be airlifted. I just hope all made it out from that point on. After speaking with a local firefighter who saw the incident, he said that he had seen at least 3 thrown from the vehicle. Stay safe, be strong and do what you do out there.

Great Job, but I wouldn't expect less from you or any other FF/EMT. 30yr vet.
