Mississauga firefighters washed more than 150 cars yesterday at an annual summer

Cars lined up at the Real Canadian

Firefighters car wash for muscular dystrophy research. Car wash organizer Chris
Corbet said the fire hoses blasted the cars with 500 litres of water a

My thoughts are this, anyone who looks or down loads child porn is a chester "child molester" in my book. I have 4 kids, a 16 yr old daughter, an11 yr ols boy, a 7 yr old boy and a 5 yr old pumkin girl. From what i read in the artical was that the things downloaded was 12 and under w/ adults, and i got real sick to my stomach reading this news artical, all i could think was my little girl being forced to do things and cry and ask for her daddy to save her. I tell you all this i would go to…

Well, I guess I am learning a lot about what my hubbies job will be all about and watching him grow more and more eager to get through this academy and start working. We are now in the second week of the academy and it is proving to be a challenge for all the newbies. He says they are teaching them a lot and the PT is not easy at all but it feel like it is working and he loves doing it. Im proud of him. I mean it has to be a lot of hard work.
I am learning…

TRUCK COMPANY OPERATIONSBy Randy FrassettoIn the ventilation world, truck companies need to be proficient on all types of ventilation tactics. A fire department may favor one ventilation style over another (vertical vs. horizontal), but all truck companies should know how to do both safely because we can’t assume one style will work for every situation. Further, it’s important to remember…

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...August 30, 2010
Where did the month go? Tonight I started finishing my Associates Degree. Only 40 credits to go until I am a Criminal Justice major. At this rate, let's see I will be about 52.
This weekend was pure bliss. On Saturday our FD celebrated our 100th anniversary by hosting a 5K run. Just when morale around the township and the FD couldn't be any lower because of lay-offs, we had an…

JANELLE FOSKETT
Managing Editor, FireRescue Magazine
Let’s face it. It’s hard to be in charge. You’re the one tasked with handling everything from personnel problems to the aftermath of a traumatic call. And although this holds true for every leader in the fire service, it’s perhaps even more…

We are starting to look and spec a heavy rescue (possibly an attached crane or knuckle boom) for our department to replace our converted ambulance. Norfolk Southern has been given the go ahead to build a new container transfer yard and be up and running by 2012. Anticipated truck traffic, 1000 trucks a day. Plus other very large trucking terminals 500,000 and 1.6 million square feet being built as we speak. If anyone has any input, I would love to hear it.

As most firefighters/fire officers will tell you, the first 5 minutes of any incident can affect the next 5 hours. But what exactly should happen in those first 5 minutes? According to Fairfax County (Va.) Fire & Rescue Department Battalion Chief Chuck Ryan, if you’re the first-arriving officer, you’ve got two main priorities on your plate: sizing up the scene and developing an initial action plan.…

Well it was only a couple weeks ago that all of this became as real as it is today. We woke up two Mondays ago living our lives like normal, when I got a call and my husband was at work. It was his Chief and he wanted me to have Eric call him right back.
There it was. The life changing call at 10 am. I was sitting there waiting for a call back from my husband to tell me if he got it or not, after testing both written and phyical tests, and interviews and everything…

My department operates in a distrtict that is located along the shores of Lake Erie, in New York State. Curently we operate a small rescue boat that has proven to be not large enough for the increase in calls we have been getting for distressed boaters and swimmers as well as missing swimmers. The shoreline consists mostly of high cliffs, with occassional beach/cove areas along a 42 mile span that is considered within our water response area. We work closely with the Coast Guard, but we are…
