As of yesterday I am a new member of Fletcher Fire and Recue in North Carolina. I am so excited I cant wait to start my shift. All the time training and working towards my goal really paid off. So to those people trying to do the same dont ever give up. Ask God to help you and if he wants you on a department he will make it happen. This is a dream come true for me. Since I started as a volunteer 3 years ago I have thought about nothing else. I have failed at various things trying to get into…

Well I got to notice Tuesday afternoon just what happends when a loaded fuel tanker makes one hell of a mistake. It started off around 1530 When a fuel tanker carring 8600 gallons of fuel. Tried to make a right turn off the highway and ended up hitting another 18wheeler hauling welding gas cylinders like you know oxygen, acetyone in the upright 5 foot cylinders and a few oxygen tanks in 500 pound tanks. But thank god he didn't hit the trailer and only knock the tractor for a loop when the fuel…

I am new to this site and so far, i'm liking it. currently, i am not active as far as being a firefighter, just EMS. I gave up the fire about 11 yrs ago. Caught in a scary situation and said that it was time to back out. Don't get me wrong, fire still fasinates me, but just can't fight it. So, that is why I now do the EMS thing...still lets me be a part of my department and community. With that in mind, I am looking at making new friends in NM and all over the world on this site. Would love to…

Do you remember the first real call you went on? I do, and it wasn't the call I recall the most, it was the feeling I had that I remember. I was scared, and proud all at the same time.
Today, I had those feelings all over again. I was accepted to a paid fire department. I had those feelings because, I am proud to know that it is in my life plan to be where I am, and scared to know what I am doing is right, but, I don't want to try so hard that I screw the easiest task…

"Life Can Be Funny Sometimes..."
A man is homeless, unemployed, feeling depressed & Hopeless. He's out walking and sees a comedy club and decides to go in, figuring the jokes and the couple of drinks he can buy with the last ten dollars in his pocket might cheer him up a little. As he enters the club, he sees a sign that reads: "Open mike night for amatures 7-9pm nightly." After watching several comedians on stage, he thinks, "Hey! I can do that!" And decides to give it a try. He…

"An Editorial Comment By: B.A. Ellis..."
Upon careful review of the newspaper last evening, I noted that there were no less than twenty obituaries listed therein. That in and of it's self is of no reason to be a major concern to me, in that, I knew none of these persons who were listed there as having died. What does concern me though, is that I am beginning to sense a pattern developing, A pattern that I find to be quite a bit distirbing in the grand scheme of things! When one stops…

"It Must Have Been Angels"
Well, it must of been angels, whispering, softly to me like the wind,
That woke me up in the middle of the night, to pray for you my friend,
Heaven must have seen, felt the painful struggle you're going through,
And sent messengers to wake the faithful, to reach out to pray for you.
It must have been angels, nudging my heart, to be sensitive to your plight,
That called me to pray for needs unknown, to help you with the…

"Picture In The Storm"
A little girl walked to an from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable, and clouds were forming, She made her daily trek to the elementary school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with thunder and lightning. The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school, and she herself feared that the electrical storm might harm her child, as following the roar…
