A tradition still observed

Its the end of October & at my station that means its time to make applebutter. It is a tradition now but we still sell as much as we can make and it is one of our biggest fund raisers. Some things have changed but some things about making "butter" never will.

The making/sales of applebutter started back in the 60s when the dept was first formed as a way to make money. Of course back then there were orchards all over the township & the apples were grown locally & much of… Continue

our minds and the world

Waste not, want not, and may our memories live on... Because it's our minds that make us who we are, it's our minds that bind us to this world, and it's our minds that empower us to do great things... and our minds will tear us all apart if we don't have great moments to dull all the bad ones that this world can bring...

This is mor e of a rant, than a blog - lol

Friday around 13:00 the tones went off for an MVC (motor vehicle collision - we don't call accidents anymore). A lady in a mini van had driven through a stop sign. The road she was on was basically a horse track. She was crossing a secondary highway to get to the other side - there was no requirement for the hiway traffic to stop. She shmucked a small Toyota.

When we got there, we had to extract the injured person from the Toyota,… Continue

A firefighter died and went to hell where he finds a wall of clocks.
After seeing all these clocks on a wall, with his friends names under them, he asked the devil, what the clocks mean?
"That's easy, each time one of your friends mess up on earth, their clock speeds up one hour." says the devil.
"I don't see the Chiefs clock anywhere?" the fireman says.
The devil replied, "Oh him, we have his down in the basement, we're using it for a fan." Continue

A mom is driving her second-grade daughter and two of her friends to school one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started talking about what the dog's duties were.
One little girl said, "They use him to keep crowds back."
"No," said another, "he's just for good luck."
The daughter said, "No! No! They use the dogs to find the fire hydrants." Continue

Firetruck

A fire fighter is working on the engine outside the station when he notices a little girl next door in a little red wagon with little ladders hung off the side and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle.

The girl is wearing a fire fighter's helmet and has the wagon tied to a dog and cat. The fire fighter walks over to take a closer look.

"That sure is a nice fire truck," the fire fighter says with admiration.

"Thanks," the girl says.

The fire fighter… Continue

Officers and Firefighters

Chief

Leaps tall buildings in a single bound

Is more powerful than a locomotive

Is faster than a speeding bullet

Walks on water

Gives policy to God.

Deputy Chief

Leaps short buildings in a single bound

Is more powerful than a switch engine

Is just as fast as a speeding bullet

Walks on water if the sea is calm

Talks with God.

Impersonating a Cop? Watch who you pull over!

Taken from KCMQ's Daily Dumbass.

Police say a Connecticut man impersonating a police officer picked the wrong person to pull over - an off-duty Hartford police lieutenant. 20-year-old Israel Gomez turned on flashing lights and used a siren and loudspeaker to coax the lieutenant off the road. The lieutenant called for backup, and police arrested the imposter immediately.

Stay safe,

rules for dating my daughter, firefighter version

Does anyone have a copy of the rules. Found them on here serveral months ago. Lost the link and my copy. If anyone knows where to find them it would greatly annoy my 16 year old daughter to no end as well as a couple of her friends.
