I have spent the last hour or so on FFN checking on the discussions I am interested in & looking through my groups for topics of interest. One of my favorite groups is Command Safety where Christopher J. Naum, SFPE posts some very good information & references. One of his topics of conversation was Leadership. There is a very well written piece with some "tips" on Leadership & how to become a better leader. Very good reading for anyone particularly those in officer positions. He…

I have been searching for a first responder course for, who knows how long now, and I have yet to find one. If somebody could give me a list of first responder courses in Palm Beach County, or someone to contact, I would appreciate. Thank you.

f you have an uncontrollable urge to play an instrument, I hope you can deal with it better than today’s dumbass. 47-year-old Michael Smith was driving by the Holy Ghost Deliverance Church earlier this week in Bridgeport when he spotted a drum set through the window. He just HAD to play them, so he broke into the church and started going to town, and was sill in the middle of a spirited solo when police arrived while the…

Today's Daily Dumbass from
KCMQ.com is really a winner.
In Vermont, a 25-year-old man was arrested for stealing items out of a car, and while he was being processed at the police department, was caught stealing a photo from the police bulletin board. He later told cops he stole the picture because he thought it was “cool.” The state’s attorney told the judge, “This is a defendant that’s just not getting it.”
Stay safe,
Bruce C…

Its the end of October & at my station that means its time to make applebutter. It is a tradition now but we still sell as much as we can make and it is one of our biggest fund raisers. Some things have changed but some things about making "butter" never will.
The making/sales of applebutter started back in the 60s when the dept was first formed as a way to make money. Of course back then there were orchards all over the township & the apples were grown locally & much of…

Waste not, want not, and may our memories live on... Because it's our minds that make us who we are, it's our minds that bind us to this world, and it's our minds that empower us to do great things... and our minds will tear us all apart if we don't have great moments to dull all the bad ones that this world can bring...

Okay, so the title pretty much says it all here. Throughout my short time in the fireservice, right around two years now; I've spoken to more then a few firefighters who say that they would rather be 1000' up on a roof then 10' up on a ladder. Just today, I was talking to a firefighter that told me he wouldent clean his own gutters because he didnt like being on a ladder!!!! This guy is a firefighter!!!! Anybody see a problem here??? I DO I tried to explain to him that being on a ladder is a…

A little about me
So lately I have been searching for the true me all this summer and I finally got myself back. so here are a few things about me!
I love Anastasia, no matter what happens in life she will always be my number one
I know exactly what I want in a man, and tired of the BS that some of them have
I still believe in love, and staying in love forever and living happily ever after (even if I am going through a pretty sucky…

This is mor e of a rant, than a blog - lol
Friday around 13:00 the tones went off for an MVC (motor vehicle collision - we don't call accidents anymore). A lady in a mini van had driven through a stop sign. The road she was on was basically a horse track. She was crossing a secondary highway to get to the other side - there was no requirement for the hiway traffic to stop. She shmucked a small Toyota.
When we got there, we had to extract the injured person from the Toyota,…

A firefighter died and went to hell where he finds a wall of clocks.
After seeing all these clocks on a wall, with his friends names under them, he asked the devil, what the clocks mean?
"That's easy, each time one of your friends mess up on earth, their clock speeds up one hour." says the devil.
"I don't see the Chiefs clock anywhere?" the fireman says.
The devil replied, "Oh him, we have his down in the basement, we're using it for a fan."

A mom is driving her second-grade daughter and two of her friends to school one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started talking about what the dog's duties were.
One little girl said, "They use him to keep crowds back."
"No," said another, "he's just for good luck."
The daughter said, "No! No! They use the dogs to find the fire hydrants."

Firetruck
A fire fighter is working on the engine outside the station when he notices a little girl next door in a little red wagon with little ladders hung off the side and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle.
The girl is wearing a fire fighter's helmet and has the wagon tied to a dog and cat. The fire fighter walks over to take a closer look.
"That sure is a nice fire truck," the fire fighter says with admiration.
"Thanks," the girl says.
The fire fighter…

Taken from
KCMQ's Daily Dumbass.
Police say a Connecticut man impersonating a police officer picked the wrong person to pull over - an off-duty Hartford police lieutenant. 20-year-old Israel Gomez turned on flashing lights and used a siren and loudspeaker to coax the lieutenant off the road. The lieutenant called for backup, and police arrested the imposter immediately.
Stay safe,
