Truckie Video

There are links to several truckie videos embedded in this block. The most recent come from my post on Firehouse Zen, where I have also linked the Raleigh and Seattle Fire Department collaboration on their tiller training project in the wake of their rollover from a few years ago.Another great truckie video was sent to me by my dad (or my brother, can't remember who):

Inside the Ladder Shop at the San Francisco Fire Department from AdamKaplan on Vimeo.

Of course, both Webchief and Dave STAT911 turned me on to this EXCELLENT video of LAFD in 1949 showing how the truckies get it done! Check it out:

And finally, the LAFD Truckie Video:

Hello fellow truckies, something I like to do is when the engine is out of the station, I'll print off a handicap sign off of the net and tape it to the floor where the engine sits. Usually gets a laugh. Would love to hear other jokes on the engine guys.

Glad to have all the new faces on board. Feel free to post, ask questions, write poetry, or otherwise express yourself within the TOC. It's just about being a truckie and we love our brother engine rats just as much, but we have to give them a little raggin' every now and then or else they might think we're taking it all too seriously.

As a career FF, I was assigned to a Truck Company out of rookie school. and was promoted to technician. Was in that position until I was forceably retired. Was also a Truckie in my volunteer house. and a Truck Officer!!! Any body can put water on the red stuff but it TAKES A TRUCKIE TO REALLY PUT THE FIRE OUT!!

Where else can you go into a room and have 217 truckies hanging out?

Only here, my boys.

So, what's up? Do we need to add some more people? Do we have anything revolutionary to say?

i agree Mick, truckies dont get the respect that the guys carrying a hose around do. truck work is the greatest, i wouldnt change my position for anything.

Hey, we're not against engine jockeys, we're just all about truckies. We just realize that while the spraying of water and riding around on small apparatus gets a lot of the attention, like the offensive line, we truckies have an important and often unsung role on the fireground, at least in the eyes of those who don't understand.

Welcome to the Truckie Nation and by the way, congratulations to all of us for hitting the 200+ mark!

I respectfully submit my application for membership in this group. I spent my time as a FF on a pump, and my time as a Captain on a pump, but my 4 years on the truck as a Lieut. were, by far, the most interesting.

Truck work takes more thinking and you need more confidence in the abilities of your men ('cause you have to send them off alone sometimes). When I got promoted to Capt and assigned to a Pump, there is no doubt that my time on the truck had made me a better Engineman.

I'm done kissing up. Feel free to accept or reject this retired Engine Captain! I'll await the decision of the committee! :D
