Comment by Derek J Sinesi on December 3, 2012 at 10:22pm Well, Elections are over looks like i get to keep my Red Helmet for another year.
Comment by Kelly Shelton on October 18, 2012 at 1:12pm for the most part we do that, i hate wasting time. But we have a few individuals who no matter what have two modes, stop and slow. then here lately we have not been having good turnout for drills period. which in-turn inhibits me from doing bigger drills.
my chief swears by starting training on time. He gets irritated if we are fooling around when its time to start. It's been ingrained in our heads as officers not to waste peoples time for training. It is also encouraged for the officers to be there earlier than the troops (volunteer dept.) I am a stickler for having some sort of plan for training so we aren't sitting there at 1830 arguing about what we are trying to do. We train every Thursday night and usually field 20-25 people (approximately 18-20 interior personnel on an average night) We make a point to actually leave the station and go out somewhere rather than hanging around the station shooting the breeze. If there is organization to your training, people will keep coming back because they feel like their time is well spent when they are at the firehouse.
Comment by Kelly Shelton on October 17, 2012 at 11:37am here is a question, what is a good way to motivate people and get them more involved with out driving them off?
Comment by Kelly Shelton on October 4, 2012 at 11:23am how is everyone doing? Well for the pictures up top, I don't see anything wrong with the pic of the car lol. anyhow nice to be a part of this group. I had just been promoted to Lieutenant, and also have taken over the roll of training officer. So if there is any tips and pearls any one wants to share, please do. Thanks and say safe ya'll.
