Nuf already!!! I did what the docs have been after me and everyone else to do for years. I quit, cold turkey! No prob! Got through that OK. HOWEVER....since that time, I've had 4 sinus infections, and NOW pneumonia!!! After smoking all these years, quitting doesn't seem to be doing anything for my health except adding 40 pounds and making me sick!

Well I havent been on in while. Just been really busy. Anyway, I got to work my first fatalities last week. One of the most horrible thing I have ever seen. Two boys in a souped up racing corvet acting crazy, drinking, and driving over a hundred miles an hour up a hill hit a yukon head on. The 2 boys burned to death when the car fully ignited. I have only been doing this for a year and I love it. My question is how do you make the flashbacks and the dreams go away of these two boys we had to…

We just ran a fire-out call a few shifts ago. When we got on scene, we found a burned out night stand smoldering on the front lawn. The father, a retired Navy vet , and donned a respirator and drug the burning mess outside. Props to the Navy, the world's largest fire department.
Anyway, we hung out on scene and waited for the fire investigator to arrive on scene and do his thing. My initial thought was that the kid had thrown a lit cigarette into the drawer to hid it because…

The new book, "Rescuing Providence" by Lt. Michael Morse of the Providence, RI Fire Department is now available at Borders Books & Music in Garden City (Cranston), RI. Please stop in and take a look at it. The book is awesome! I read it in four hours the other night.
GREAT gift idea for that special firefighter in your life! :-)
Be well & stay safe, all.

Can anyone tell me if there is a web site or how to figure water flow, there is a builder that would like to build a 40unit town home in the community, the local water company will not help out they say they are not in the fire service so they cannot tell me weather the amount of flow and the hydrant is go enough for fire protection. We are a small dept and run off of donations ( about 17,000 a year) so it is hard to buy computer soft wear to do this. So if someone can help me or know of a…

ALF 700 series 1965 squirt
It's time to put this horse out to pasture. You have until the end of the month to get a bid in on the truck. It's a cream puff, only driven to parades and fires on Sunday. It's seen some weather on Main Street in Galeton, a "palace" in Tioga, a flower shop and restaurant in Blossburg, a Ben Franklin and insurance company in Mansfield, a personal care home in Morris Run, and more than a few barns…

Well yesterday I finally got to see the doctor to get cleared for fire duty. So no big deal I'm in over all good health and what not, and the doc gave me a clean bill for fire service. I was off to the station for the weekly drill and the monthly meeting. We have been really pushing to get our engine bay repainted before it gets cold out so our drill was to continue the painting project. NBD it needs to get done BAD. Well we get into the meeting and half way through it we get dispatched to a…

Why i do what i do?
Ever scents I was 14 years old all people have ask me is how can I work on an ambulance and not get pad for it. For two years all I could say is "I don't know, I just like doing it". Shortly after I turned 18 I was thinking about saying the hell with it all. It…

I WISH YOU COULD SEE
I wish you could know what it is like to search a burning bedroom for
trapped children, flames rolling above your head, your palms and
knees burning as you crawl, the floor sagging under your weight as the
kitchen below you burns.
I wish you could comprehend a wife's horror at 3 in the morning as…

A FIREFIGHTER'S PRAYER
When i am called to duty, God Whenever flames may rage, Give me the strength to savesome life Whatever be it's age, Help me embrace a little child Before it is too late Or save an older person from The horror of that fate Enable me to be alert and Hear the weakest shout And quickly and efficiently To put the fire out I want to fill my calling and To give…

In each of our daily routines we must be very consciencious of our surroundings and whats going on. You must also remember to relax and enjoy the simple things in life as well. You need to laugh and live and love a little more then most given what you do for a living.

The following is a copy of a bulletin I posted on myspace. If you live in NC please contact the right people.
We responded to a call tonight of a man burning trash not 10 foot from
a wooded area. The man refused to put it out and there was nothing we
could do because he lives in the county where it is legal for him to do
that. Not long after we left we were called back out to put the woods
out.
As you all know we are in a severe drought and…

I've grown restless of being an ambulance driver. I've run the gamut of precepting requirements and I'm now an official non-probationary medic driver. I should be excited, but I'm not; I long to be in the back.
Whenever we run a call, I get to help out a little bit. It's something like, "Sam, can you get a pulse-ox on him," or, "Could you get me a bp on her?" The little bit I get to do is thrilling.
I'm a doctor's daughter who wore kid-sized scrubs when dad would take me on rounds. I…
