They say "Never Forget", as if we could. Today started like any day, just like it did on that day; the difference is that today we hold a memory of loss and grief mixed with pride and outrage.

I light a candle in my heart for those that we had worked with at Windows on the World and Wild Blue and for the families, colleagues and friends of all the victims; whether they were heroes or just every day people living their every day lives, until there was no more time.…

Remembering 9/11

My story begins on the night of September 10th 2001. I was working as a truck driver for a local towing company, it was my night on call and it had been a busy one. Several breakdowns and a couple of heavy duty tows had kept me up most of the night, I finally was able to go home about 0630 on the 11th. I remember the sun was already up, and thinking to myself it was going to be a beautifully clear day, and it seemed a waste that I was going to sleep the day away. I had told the boss that…

September 11th

To all of "My Firefighters" and their families:

Although each of you is in my thoughts and prayers every single day of the year, September 11th is especially difficult for us all, I think. So many lost in the blink of an eye... in front of the world.

Tomorrow morning, I will be at work at the bookstore and I know that the same thing will happen at the same time as it did six years ago. It will hit me that there was a tragedy of unfathomable proportions on American soil. I will…

Overpass Drama

So

I was on my way to work the other morning around 06:30 when I crested a

low hill on Woodhaven Road. To my surprise & instant aggravation

there was a police car diverting all traffic off the highway onto a

side road. Now Woodhaven road connects me to I-95. Any diversion here

can spell disaster for my commute. So as I get to the top…

Still No News...

Well, for all of you who want to know, I still don't have a job to speak of. However, most of that is my fault, because I haven't exactly been pounding pavement. Between work and family, it's been nearly impossible to get to departments during normal business hours when the folks I need to talk to are there. BUT, that's all about to change, because Thursdays the wee man will be in preschool for three hours and I don't work on Thursdays....so that will be the day devoted to showing my face at… Continue

Proud Volunteer

Well, during the summer months I stay really busy. I am the GM for a boat dealership at Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri. That requires a bunch of hours from May to Sept. Remembering 9-11.... Never Forgetting

Today one of our local churches treated us to a worship service in which they prayed a blessing upon us and all the other firefighters, families, and those who have had someone give their sacrifice so others may live. They called it Heroes Day. They gave us a cookout afterwards. It was a time to reflect and just hand out with our feloow brothers from one of the neighboring departments. It was done in Remembrance of 9-11. May we NEVER FORGET!

Because there's a need

I volunteered for my fire department (all volunteer) because there was a need, there is always a need for trained firefighters, when I joined I had no firefighting background. But I was willing to train on my time and my families time. Our training officer took his personal time to train 5 new volunteers for several months to challenge the firefighter exam. After the exam the proctor stated that he had never seen a better trained group of challengers.

I believe, that it does not…
