Hi folks.
I am looking to get some ideas on putting together a pro-active training package on the upcoming challenges that firefighters will enevitably face when dealing with strcture fires in eco friendly building construction(ie. rain water collection tanks on roofs, concrete exterior walls, solar panels on roofs and so on). I realize these characteristics vary on the climate of the region so any suggestions based on the conditions found primarily in the north east U.S. and Canada would be even better. I think it's important to start looking for these trends now when they are more the exception than the rule because I think it's fair to say that this type of construction (if you can call it that) is something that we are going to encounter more and more as time passes.
Thanks.

P.S. Please dont send suggestions on structure fires in igloos... We aren't that far north.

OK, indoor if all else fails line everybody up for vitals and lung sounds on each other, glucometer if you do that sort of stuff, and everybods favorite, reveiwing naratives on paper work, CHART SAMPLE etc. If you want somthign a littel more livley. line up some tables side by side so they forma cave and put a live victim under the table. Senario is victim in a builng collapese, now you have your crew do a trauma assessment, and c-spine in a very small confined area.

Awesome Idea Steve, I was looking also for some classroom stuff as well. We will be using the station house for some of the practice, Unfortunatly, there is NO WAY the white hats would lets us use a private residence though! (please refer to my profile under challenge facing emergency responders) Thanks for the shout back!

Why not practice laddering the building for the chimney, roof ladders, roof safety, using the chimney chain, keeping the persons house as clean a possible, using SCBA's for a chimney fire.
