Pitched Roof training Prop: Any ideas/plans out there FFN?
While there a quite a few of these pics online most are fixed. We've used a pallet on the ground and a basic 8' tall steep pitch metal prop w/ a roof ladder with success, there's an element lost. The purpose is to simulate typical residential roof design asphalt/metal: sounding the deck, cutting across 2x4 top truss chords & working as a 2 person team. For us it must be a movable/store-able design. Some fixed designs out there are killer; even a commercially available wall mounted unit. Neither practical. Some pic's &/or plans would be excellent. Hopefully I'll be able to post what we build this winter. Be safe.

Wes, we have built a small, portable pitched roof simulator out of regular construction materials that would normally be found-2x4s, etc. and made a workable platform form ventilation practice. Check out our photo page on www.howellfire.com and see if you can get any ideas from that. Or go to www.livingstondaily.com and go to the videos and look for the cadet academy video. Hope this helps.

Check out our website (www.rosewoodfire.webs.com) go to the photo gallery and scroll down to Vent Training. We built this about 2 years ago. The 4'x4' cut section holds 2x4 at 16" o.c. is steel brakets so you can remove the 2x4 if you cut all the way through. The osb is just screwed over the hole for the next person to cut. The jacks fold up and lay flat or can be raised to an angle use blocks under jacks if you need more angle. Just one idea of many of how you could train.
