How to motivate?

It does not make a difference how many bugles you wear on the collar of your shirt, the issues of motivating your co-workers and subordinates always comes into play.   So my questions has two parts; the first;  How do you motivate your fellow officers above or below you in rank to become great leaders.  Second; How do you motivate your subordinates when that person refuses to take there training seriously and only is willing to do the absolute minimum?  See More

Hi Kevin. Shawn Lee here. Thanks for checking my blog. I will try to get some pictures in the next few days. In the meantime, just to give you some ideas, our burn building was constructed using six old cargo shipping containers. They are arranged in a "U" shape, two high. The containers were sandblasted and painted black. You need a couple of guys good with torches and welders to cut windows and cut away the nonopening ends of the containers if you go with something like this. The interior is set up like a two-story residential structure thanks to some fabrication and custom construction. We have a mock kitchen area complete with an old refrigerator and stove, a bathroom with an old tub (old cast iron type), two stairways, a stud wall prop for drills on working your way through a wall for emergency escape, and a couple of small "burn boxes" that can be moved to different areas of the building. We have one large "burn box" set in one of the lower rooms and this is where we simulate indirect attacks and hydraulic ventilation. I will be happy to answer any questions and help any way I can so feel free to drop me a line anytime. Be safe.
