Last night I filled out YET ANOTHER application and I turned it in this morning. This department is VASTLY different than the last one. The last one was fancy and pretty and in an upscale community. This one, not so much. A bit ghetto, slightly shabby, not fancy at all. The department shares its lot with the clerks office, road department, and police department. It took me a while to figure out how to even get in the building! All the buildings are painted white and locked up tightly, versus…

Got the call about 9 pm the 28th, Old military rd, at the church flames and smoke showing. When I got there I was ahead of the Engine. The roof and front of the church were in flames and the fire was licking the power lines in fron tof the building. The church building had been abandoned for sometime so more than likely it was a set job. When the Engine arrived on scene the guys went to work. When we left there an hour and a half later the church building and the trailer next to it were gone. I…

For some of us, it seems like yesterday that we were just starting out on the fire department. For some it might have been just yesterday that we've started out on the fire department. Some of us started out as cadets or explorers, while others came on as probee firefighters. Everything was new, unfamiliar, and, at times, rather frightening.
I came on my department as a Cadet, and we were…

Chief 601: Complete (RIP) He walked through fire, he felt it’s heat Yet never once did he waver. A Firefighter; he’s done his best, He showed the hot blaze no favor. When others called he answered - yes; Quickly, each time he responded During the day or if at night Never left callers confounded. So brave and strong, mighty was he One to respect and admire. He fought the fight, remaining tough 601: The Chief of fire. Amazing though was his soft heart, His kindness and gentle smile He touched us…

You know one of the things that I hate the most is peolpe who say one thing and do another. This is what's wrong with society today, Everyone wants to tell people what they want to here even though they dont mean it! It's like no one has any integrity, or honesty anymore. Who cares what peolpe say about you, Be HONEST, And have RESPECT for yourself AND OTHERS!!!!

Subject: AN EMS CHRISTMAS
Body: AN EMS CHRISTMAS
'Twas the night before Christmas and all through our town,
Ambulances sat quietly-call volume was down.
Dispatchers and medics, without any calls,
All settled all cozily within station walls.
The city grew silent as the night grew deep;
My partner and I settled in for some sleep.
But no sooner dreaming in our beds were we,
When dispatch awoke us, crying, "Hurry! Code 3!"…

We ran another "CSI, New York: Crash Scene Investigation" class tonight at Verdoy Fire Department in Latham, NY (aka the "Taj Mahal" of Upstate NY) {thanks to Chief Dave Leonardo for giving up other plans to stay onsite and assist FASNY after the onsite Verdoy coordinator had a conflict} --
The class is a focused look at emergency services operators injured or killed while responding to a call or while on scene. During a discussion about scene staging, one of our attendees wanted to…

Even fireman have Hero's, sorta werid in my case. My hero is a family member and a fellow firefighter. Captain Ben Hays is my younger brother, he is the other shift captain at CPFD in College Place, Washington. Ben age 31, works full time as a electrician. He then devotes time to serve on a shift for the CP Fire Department. We are as close as any brothers can be. We train together, and teach classes together. Sometimes i even think we even know what the other is thinking. My brother is a…

AS some of you know California has been having arson fires. I want to
thank all of the firefighters that have been working day and night to
put these fires out and catch who has been doing this. Your dedication
and hard work has saved many peoples lives. You do good work and we
should all be thankful for your dedication to help and save lives.
Thank you.
