Life's Little Reminders

The journey has always been about laughing together, loving each other, seeking adventure, believing in our dreams and making a difference.....but sometimes we forget.

In the game of life it's a good idea to have a few early losses, which relieves you of the pressure of trying to maintain an undefeated season.

The First Responder's Prayer

I wrote this short prayer for everybody,

The First Responders Prayer

By Rev. Robert A. Crutchfield

Father in Heaven,

Please make me strong when others are weak, brave when others are afraid, and vigilant

when others are distracted by the chaos.

Provide comfort, and companionship to my family when I must be away.

Serve beside me and protect me, as I seek to protect others.

Amen

My own prayer is that you will honor me by praying this… Continue

TNT: The Accidental Runner: Updates

I'll be using this space periodically to update my friends and others on this site about my participation in the Lake Placid Half Marathon on June 15, 2008, in, amazingly enough, Lake Placid, NY. I'm running 13.1 miles with Team in Training to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Donors (Heroes) so far:

  • LadyChaplain
  • Sean Crotty
  • Dave Blank and family
  • Donna…

The Battle of Agincourt "Band of Brothers"

"Whoever does not have the stomach for this fight, let him depart. Give him money to speed his departure, since we do not wish to die in that man's company. Whoever lives past today and comes home safely will rouse himself every year on this day, show his neighbor his scars, and tell embellished stories of all their great feats of battle. These stories he will teach his son and from this day until the end of the world, we shall be remembed. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for…

Perceptions-

Not too long ago, we had a discussion among our union membership about an issue that our Union President brought up. This discussion was being held on our local's website

message board. I came a bit late to the party and discovered that

someone had made a post or two that didn't set too well with our

President. So, without thinking about it, he had the webmaster

remove those posts and then posted a message stating that he had…

Kiss of Death

Dammit, people!! I'm gonna quit choosin' political candidates, so far I seem to put the kiss of death on 'em... 1st it was Fred Thompson, he crashed & burned, now Mit Romney bows out!! SHEE-IT!! Huckabee? Riiiight, couldn't win dogcatcher.

I shoulda gone with John McCain, then my GOP wouldn't be in this mess!

What're my chances with Hillary or Obama? Ya think maybe I could .....Never mind. With my luck, one of 'em would win.

CUCKOO

SOME ONE SENT ME THIS I'M NOT SURE WHO WROTE IT BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY. IT SOUNDS KINDA LIKE SOMETHING I MIGHT DO. LOL

Why women should avoid a girls night out after they are married....

If this does not make you laugh out loud, you have lost your sense of humor.

The other night I was invited out for a night with the 'girls.'

I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, 'I promise!'

Well, the hours passed and the…

Wish me luck!!!

Well it looks like I might be back in business!! I applied for a full time FF job yesterday and my chances look pretty good. Now, I'm not gonna blow it and say where, let's just say, it's in NC. lol The only hold up is that my certs from Michigan are not IFSAC and won't transfer, so I have to re-do the FFI & II classes. That's fine with me. I'm sure there have been some new developments since I was last an active smoke eater. And it really shouldn't take too long. I only work about 9-10… Continue

OMG...Junkyard Wars!!!

While recovering today, I happened upon the old show 'Junkyard Wars' on the Science Channel. Hold the sarcastic comments, there are cool shows on the Science Channel and I consider it a cheap way of furthering my education. Stop it...I mean it....quite laughing.

Anyway, you might remember 'Junkyard Wars' as the show with two teams plopped in the middle of a junkyard and tasked with building a vehicle to perform an assigned task using only what they can find in the…

The Panasonic Toughbook Is NOT Tough

Yesterday I encountered that feared vision known throughout all computerdom, the Blue Screen of Death. I will not be posting blogs as regularly for a few days while I decipher the needs of my "ruggedized" Task Force-issued Panasonic Toughbook CF-29, which is the third I have been through. These are neither rugged nor tough and to be honest, for the amount of money we spent on them, we would have been better off buying three or four cheaper laptops that are not ruggedized and just replacing…
