This is Nitro spray. It goes under your tongue. Put your tongue on the roof of your mouth.
Now open your mouth
Okay, put your tongue on the roof of your mouth
NO!
It goes under
Try again
No not just out, up!
No, the roof of your mouth
It goes under your tongue

ContinueHello all again! This blog is going to be spent describing my quest to become hired as a paid firefighter. If you haven't read, I have been a firefighter for almost 15 years now. (500 calls a year no EMS) I became interested in becoming paid about 5 years ago, and promptly started to look for open…

It's funny how people remember us
From that fateful day
As the heroes who climbed the towers
Passing workers on the way
They see the footage of us in the lobby
Preparing for the haul
The look on our faces, they say
Surely says it all
"They knew they were going to die",
They tell each other
"You can see it in their eyes as they
Greet a fellow brother"
They fail to…

The Last Alarm
My father was fireman. He drove a big red truck
and when he'd go to work each day he'd say, "Mother wish me luck."
Then Dad would not come home again 'til sometime the next day.
But the thing that…

Being a Firefighter...
Who among us hasn't ever wondered as we stand in the cold, dark, wee hours of the morning. "God, why an I here? Why am I in the freezing rain at 2am pulling hoses and trying to keep warm? Why?" But who among us hasn't glowed with pride while we stand around twenty-five seven year-olds during a fire safety class as they stare in awe at that "big red truck", and scared yellow…

When a man becomes a fireman his greatest act of bravery has been accomplished. What he does after that is all in the line of work. ~Edward F. Croker
I have no ambition in this world but one, and that is to be a fireman. The position may, in the eyes of some, appear to be a lowly one; but we who know the work which the fireman has to do believe that his is a noble calling. Our proudest moment is to save lives. ~Edward F. CrokerI can think of no more…

The journey has always been about laughing together, loving each other, seeking adventure, believing in our dreams and making a difference.....but sometimes we forget.
In the game of life it's a good idea to have a few early losses, which relieves you of the pressure of trying to maintain an undefeated season.

I'll be using this space periodically to update my friends and others on this site about my participation in the Lake Placid Half Marathon on June 15, 2008, in, amazingly enough, Lake Placid, NY. I'm running 13.1 miles with Team in Training to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

"Whoever does not have the stomach for this fight, let him depart. Give him money to speed his departure, since we do not wish to die in that man's company. Whoever lives past today and comes home safely will rouse himself every year on this day, show his neighbor his scars, and tell embellished stories of all their great feats of battle. These stories he will teach his son and from this day until the end of the world, we shall be remembed. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for…

Not too long ago, we had a discussion among our union membership about an issue that our Union President brought up. This discussion was being held on our local's website
message board. I came a bit late to the party and discovered that
someone had made a post or two that didn't set too well with our
President. So, without thinking about it, he had the webmaster
remove those posts and then posted a message stating that he had…
