Last Nights Hospital Adventure...

So last night I went to the hospital. I was hanging with some EMT friends. It started out as a normal evening and I decided to take one of my pain killers, about 20 minutes after that David started to notice I was acting a little weird. I was complaining of my face being on fire but my body was freezing. My face was also flushed. I then preceded to go put on extra layers of clothes cause I was cold. That's when David ran downstairs to grab a cuff and steth to take my vitals. BP was 106 over 72.… Continue

what's bad, is good

I know that you should save the best for last. I think though that I will begin with one of the best. This is a story that I occasionally share with certain people, at particularly difficult times in their life. This story can be read different ways by different people. What this talks about though is social perception and personal perception. This is my favorite granddaddy story. Not just…

FF/EMT NARRATIVE ESSAY FOR ENGLISH

The best thing to ever happen to me was when I became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Firefighter. On December 1, 2007, I met with the captain,

Jeff Bryant Senior, of the Amboy Volunteer Fire Department. When I met with

Captain Bryant, he and I discussed whether I would be an EMT cadet, fire cadet,

or both. After talking to my mom, I decided that EMT would be best,…

I only socially network here on FFN.com and jems.connect.com.

I have posted on view points on training or opinions of ideas, but never on my thoughts.

Mt. Rainier Rangers Rescue Skier from Snow Cavern

By Tom Vines

On Jan. 31, Mt. Rainier National Park rangers received a report that a woman had fallen into a deep “hole” in the snow while skiing and was unable to get out. Mt. Rainier National Park, located in Northwestern Washington State, includes Mt. Rainier, the tallest volcano in the Cascade Range.

A ranger followed the reporting party about three-quarters of a mile from the trailhead to a “moat,” a snow cavern created… Continue

why do we do what we do?

In my many years in the fire/ems service I have seen officers come and go! Some very good one's and others you could not wait till voting time to get them out. But either way why do they run for office? Why do they take one all the extra responsibility? Is it the while helmet? The radio? The getting to boss the people under around? Or is it to make a difference, regardless how small a difference is it to make one. To be the best at what you do, to help others grow in the service and get them… Continue

Firefighter's Poem by my 3 year old daughter

My daughter came to me about a year ago and told me she had written a poem. Knowing she was only 3 yrs old and had just mastered writing her alphabet I knew it would have been a miraculous achievement if she had actually written anything on paper besides the usual smiley faces and scribbled flowers. To my amazement she had not put it on paper; she had made up this poem in her head and had said it so…
