Rescue Report: Fort Worth Firefighters Quickly Switch Gears to Perform Trench Rescue

By Tom Vines

Firefighters often arrive at the scene of a rescue only to find that the situation is completely different from what the 911 call reported. This was the case on June 2, when the Fort Worth (Texas) Fire Department responded to a 911 call that reported a fallen construction crane with persons trapped. Although this wasn’t exactly what responders found when they arrived on scene, the incident shows how with the right… Continue

P90X Workout

I've been a firefighter for going on 9 years now and know how important it is to be in good shape. After all, Heart Attacks are the number one killer of firefighters. I've always considered myself to be in fairly good shape, but over the years the I've gained some weight and its starting to show. After alot of research my wife and I decided to do the P90X workout. Last night we started the workout together and I can already feel it! It was just as intense as everyone said it would be and I… Continue

Summer update

Howdy to all my Brothers and Sisters..Just wanted to write and give a sorta update. All things are pretty much as always we are up an down on being busy, I am still running in-house on a medic crew and run part-paid on call the rest of the time.As soon as our Department approves an agility test for in-house fire on days, I will more than likely take the test and go that direction. Doing so will probably mean I will have to drop the medic shift and possibly the part paid volley at night. My… Continue
