I just learned today that Dr. Kimberly Alyn recently passed away unexpectedly. Dr. Ayln played an intricate role in the education of the fire service. She didn’t teach tactics or fire behavior. She coached us on firefighter behavior. She talked…

This weekend my local newspaper ran a story about a call from many years ago that I have written about here in the past. The article by Bill Vogrin, here is a link http://sidestreets.freedomblogging.com/2013/02/02/sometimes-lives-start-badly-and-there-is-no-happy-ending/17883/ was done with great skill as he (and I) both had hopes for a much different…

According to the…

These services include fire fighting, fire prevention, search and rescue services, humanitarian services etc.

Thanks to my non-firefighter work schedule, I am getting close to making a tough decision on whether I should focus more on getting my paramedic training done first over my fire science degree. The fire science degree is 2 nights/week in another city that's almost an hour away. The pre-reqs I am finishing for my dream paramedic school is 2 hours away 1 day/week for 2 months. Then I would move closer to the paramedic training. However, I have heard that my chances for getting hired as a…
