Today I toast the New Year, hopefully a new year with good things in store for all of us, I also toast my late friend. I don't morn but I celebrate the life that he lived and the fun times we had. So, if your toasting to good things, please toast to my good friend "Kevin", he'll love ya for it!

Just returned home from our first fire call of 2008. 14 years of firefighter experience, training and dedication...... Yeah you guessed it - a carbon monoxide alarm. Not just a carbon monoxide alarm, a bad battery in a carbon monoxide detector. Can't get more exciting than that. Sure, the rookies were thrilled, packs on - CO detectors in hand - helmets in place. As we approach 2008, let us be thankful for the important things in 2007. With good comes bad as we all know. Let us be thankful for our families that miss and worry for us every third day. For the great job that we get to do. And the brotherhood that we control the destiny of. Let us welcome the new year with realistic resolutions like "EVERYONE GOES HOME".
