in memorial

Lord as i take off my helemt, and fall on bended knee
Why was it my brother Lord, why wasn't it me?

I should have took his place, I should have been the one
When the reality hits me, what more could I have done.

My partners words came to me, like a blanket warm and tight
This is what we do, this is why we fight

To put our life on the line, no matter what the call
Do what we all know, give it our all.

I have decided to keep a rolling list of injuries due to "NOT" wearing a seatbelt. Maybe one day we'll Learn.

OK, so maybe we need a little more enlighting on this subject since it is still happening, people we need to use our heads here, and for godsake take two seconds to "CLICK IT"! This is where I will post bad things that happen for not wearing a seatbelt. These post are mainly from "The Secretlist "@ Firefighterclosecalls.com.

I have posted thier disclaimer to relieve any legal issues and to eliminate the possibility of being deleted for illegal… Continue

Used equipment

Hi im Michael from the Philippines, im a volunteer here in our city. And unlike Volunteers in the US we are not connected with our local fire department.,meaning with the government. We are private own organization, organized by Chinese merchants since 1970's to help protect our city and giving assistance to our local fire department. And we supply our own equipment by ourselves.

Are there any fire departments who has used or surplus fire equipment like turnout gears , SCBA, Tools… Continue

Just Remember...

“Firemen are going to get killed. When they join the department they face that fact. When a man becomes a fireman his greatest act of bravery has been accomplished. What he does after that is all in the line of work. They were not thinking of getting killed when they went where death lurked. They went there to put the fire out, and got killed. Firefighters do not regard themselves as heroes because they do what the business requires.”

Firefighting or family?

Greetings to everyone here on FFN. This is my first posting. I havent had as much time as I would like to spend here on this great site. My posting here has to do with some of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my life in quite some time.

I am going though a divorce and had left the state of Utah to move home back with my parents. Well, I am back in Utah, closer to my kids and have just recently been able to be with them again. I was all set to return to my position as a…

Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa

Editor's Note: If you only knew what WebChief and I have been through for the past day trying to post this. Talk about issues- for some reason the computer I was using wasn't allowing my post to save (which resulted in my first version disappearing) and luckily I learned from my mistakes. As Staind sings: "Falling is easy, its the getting back up that's hard". Well, special thanks to Dave for saving my sanity. And with that...

The battle for funding

It has come to my attention, that our yearly budget from the township we protect is being not only cut , but slashed in nearly half. Now i'm sure many of you belong to volunteer fire companies that get funded either partially, or in whole by your local gov't,. Then their are those who get nothing or next to nothing. Well we get next to nothing and now they're going to give us half of that.

16 yrs ago I became a volunteer firefighter, in a small suburban town in northern New Jersey.… Continue

Something to ponder

I wrote this a couple of years ago to thank our community for thier support after a fund raiser we had. It seems that since then our training has gotten even more important and more involved. There are things out there that people are doing or what stuff is made out of that put our lives in more danger than ever before. I want to remind everyone how important it is to :

Train like your life depends on it! BECAUSE IT DOES!

Treat every incident as the one that might kill you.
