Hello

Hello to anyone who visits my page. I put this up here to hopefully get back in touch with some old friends. While I am still active in EMS, I do not see or talk to many of the folks who helped me get my start and get to where I am now (you know who you are!).

I would have loved to have stayed with Baltimore County but family life had to take priority and I am glad it did. Since leaving BCo, I have had 2 (well, adopted 1) more children with whom I try to spend as much time as possible…

Do you Believe?

Have you ever wonder what would happen if you had to save the life of someone close to you. Well lets start from the beginning.

On the morning of February 9, 2002, at 15 till 6am, my phone rings and its the 911 dispatch center calling to tell me my husband has been hit head-on by a drunk driver. Well I promtly told her I needed a real cigarette and a cup of coffee before I would talk to them, and I hung up. That morning 911 called me 3 times before I felt good and awake to talk to…

Your First Time

Do you remember the first time the tones went off, when you joined the station. I was right in the middle of a CEVO class. We all jumped to go to it. I remember the heart pounding feeling of my adrenaline rush. It was a Structure fire, Single wide 14 X 70 trailer. Old Aluminum type. There was this idiot living there with his girlfriend, he had been burning weeds around the edging, it had started to smolder before igniting and… Continue

Search and Rescue and the people that do.

Search and Rescue and those that do.

Why is it that anytime I talk to others about the Search and Rescue I do, I get these responses: "YOU DO THAT FOR FREE", "I WOULDN'T DO THAT FOR FREE", "WOW THEY SHOULD PAY YOU FOR THAT". I find myself thinking: To me donating my free time, running for hours without sleep, and using my last dime to get there is no big deal.…

Rope rescue!

Dude, so I totally love learning rope rescue. We had a

drill tonight lead by Captain Jon Parker (he works for BP Refinery full

time) that he showed us 4 on 1, wrap 3 pull 2, we worked on knots, and

dropped and pulled him up on the bridge over the Ottawa River (which by

the way better be safe now cause we let him in the water, he could wake

up with a 3rd eye or something) It was really interesting, and

truly makes me wanna go out and get all the rope rescue classes… Continue
