Your First Time

Do you remember the first time the tones went off, when you joined the station. I was right in the middle of a CEVO class. We all jumped to go to it. I remember the heart pounding feeling of my adrenaline rush. It was a Structure fire, Single wide 14 X 70 trailer. Old Aluminum type. There was this idiot living there with his girlfriend, he had been burning weeds around the edging, it had started to smolder before igniting and going fast. I remember the mopping up afterwards. I remember thinking this lady had 3 kids. 2 other firefighers Brian and Jarod had gone inside and were handing me photo albums that were scorched but saveable. I set them out under a tree with other belongings we were able to save. I later got a thankyou from that lady. She told me nothing else in that trailer mattered except those pictures. She was pissed when she found out the her boyfriend use to be a firefighter. He was dumped shortly after
