Lisa, I have two baby dachsies as well (11 months), and they did go through a little bit of a chewing phase. We opted for a more natural approach vs. the bitter apple. A mist of white vinegar in some of their favorite chew spots has been enough to keep them away . Other than that, we've reinforced positive chewing with various rawhide treats - changing it up every once in a while to ensure that they aren't getting bored. When they were teething we would give them cold bones that would be a little more soothing to their gums since it sounds like you may have a teether on your hands!!

Lisa, does your doxie have anything to chew on...especially usefull is a Kong, they are indestructable (both out rottie and now our malamute have never eaten through one). They come in different sizes so that the doxie can have one his size. It has a hollow center that you can hide cookies or a smudge of peanut butter works well also. If you catch him eating anything unacceptable take it away and give him the Kong. The other thing is if he has TONS of toys he thinks EVERYTHING is a toy....cut him down to 2 or 3 toys that he has access to, you can switch them out every few days so that he doesn't get bored with the selection.

I love all of the pics so I thought I would add two of my dogs. The boxer is Sassy and the American Bulldog mix is Gypsy.
