Has anyone heard of a dog able to find missing body parts? It seems this could be helpful at accident scenes. Would like to know more about this.

theres two thingsi can think of one the use of cadaver dogs. Not real sure though... i dont know what smells cadaver dogs are train to smell as apposed to a freshly severed limb. Only other thing is maybe its more like the prison bloodhound. have the dog smeel a piece of clothing then "go hunting" Not realy sure though. thats definatly something interesting to look into
more then two justin,, some ski patrol, use dogs in avalanche areas to sniff out humans alive and deceased, as do, or similarly USAR type trained search dogs, and I am sure therearea couple of other "specialties"

But they are all based on scenting humans.. right? its just condition changes..

the big issue is the amount of time and effort to do the training, when the scope and "need" of your/and the dogs abilities to get where the accident has happened in a timely enough manner tomake the "parts recovery" in a timely enough manner to be of good in a typical senerio.. short answer is why not ? realistic answer, lts a lot of work for limited usage potential..

This dog is fron the NNY state .. I suppose if dogs smell dead bodies then body parts would be dead tissue therefore the dog would smell it right....
Yes, they are HRD (Human Remains Detection) trained dogs. Any additional questions, feel free to let me know
