I have two dogs,Dingo, a red heeler and Jellybean, a pomeranian who is smaller than my cat.

Two nights ago the three of us were outside on our drive. (we live in a rural area of Wyoming. A dog came from a house away, a full grown great dane, attempted to fight with the two yellow labs across the street but they were behind a fence. He saw Jellybean and started running after her, I told Dingo to "go get jellybean" he ran and impeded the dane so the dane chased after Dingo. The owner was right there, yelling at her dog but the dog did not respond. She has no control of this dog, even on a leash. Mine are both voice command responsive. When the dane began to ketch up to Dingo. I drew my pistol and yelled at the lady that "if your dog touches my dog I will shoot him". Wyoming has a concealed carry w/o permit but I have had one for 18 years.

If the choice is my dogs get hurt by a dog twice the size of both of them, as much as I love dogs, if an owner is irresponsible enough not to train their dog or can not contol them and let them run free they are responsible for the outcome.

The important point I'm making is that Dingo responded immediately and took the dog away from Jellybean at the risk of her own injuries.
