About Me:
Joined Boyd VFD, Boyd Tx in 1985. Spent 10+ years rising to rank of Asst. Chief
Worked Wise County EMS 4 yrs as EMT-B, also worked part-time for 2 private EMS providers covering racetracks and non-emergency transfers in Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Also worked Decatur Community Hospital as E/R Tech, Nurse Aide, ICU Tech. This hospital was originally EMS provider for Wise County & thus my 1st EMS job.
After leaving Emergency Services, I drove trucks throughout the lower 48 states & Canada for 10yrs. Currently, I operate heavy equipment (buldozer) in oilfield construction (so keep buying gas/oil, I need the work!) around West Texas. Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Just out of USAF, was home when mom's blood sugar crashed, had no idea what 2 do for a diabetic as I was overseas when she was diagnosed. Left a very helpless feeling I didn't like, joined Boyd VFD 2 weeks later. Besides I always wanted 2 be a firefighter.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Constantly being challenged (also lead to my burnout)
Top Issues Facing Responders:
As always, FUNDING!
Applying new technologies/techniques ESPECIALLY since 9/11 & learning to deal with associated threats.
Way too many issues, don't get me started!

Where Do We Find Such Men?

Posted on May 23, 2008 at 11:01pm 6 Comments

Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor, USN. Heard the name? Wouldn't surprise me if you haven't.

If I were not also a member of military.com, I probably wouldn't either except that I happened to catch a short blurb about Pres Bush awarding the Medal of Honor to him, posthumously, on the news. Took 'em all of 15 seconds to report it. Didn't tell us why a Navy SEAL was being awarded the nation's highest honor, or that he had previously been awarded the Bronze Star for valor. No mention… Continue

...But They're Such Easy Targets!!

Two Democrat campaign volunteers are in a graveyard getting names off headstones.

1st guy sez, "Did you get the name off that real tall one in the back?"

2nd guy sez, "Naw, it was too old & faded."

1st guy sez, "Well, go back & look at it again."

2nd guy sez , "I told you it was too faded to read."

1st guy sez, " You go back & get that name, dammit"

2nd guy sez, " I can't read it. Besides, we musta got a hundred names, that oughta be enough."

1st… Continue

Who'da thunk it? I gotta tip my hat to Hillary Clinton for this (see Fox News for this 1):

After Gloria Steinem made some very disparaging & disgusting remarks about John McCain's POW experience while endorsing the "Queen Bee", Hillary & her campaign disassociated herself from those remarks quickly & in a big way.

I gotta hand it to her, she showed some class & a certain amount of maturity here.

Good to see in the middle of a political campaign, ain't it?

Two Ropesville Firefighters Arrested for Arson

Posted on March 1, 2008 at 8:19pm 4 Comments

Well folks, it's happened again: volunteer firefighters busted for arson. Just what we need, huh?

Check www.kcbd.com for news coverage. All quotes I use here are from "Levelland & Hockley News-Press" for which I can find no web site, sorry.

Hockley County, Tx Sherriff's Deputies arrested 2 men late Sunday Night (2/24/08) for a string of 8 suspicious fires dating back to December '07, including a cotton module fire on Jan 18.

Arrested were: Jeremy Solis, 17 & Anthony… Continue

Hi Mike,

Sorry it took so long to get back. I was on vacation.

You definately know where Perrysburg is if you stayed at the Flying J.

I dated a girl from Fremont, not sure how old you are, but it was back in '81. Also I have a friend from Athens Ohio Fire who is from Fremont, Matt Hull.

Glad to hear from you and when you get up here again, stop and say hi.
